" The police are there to preserve disorder" applies to Iraq.
Though Mayor Daley misspoke while inadvertently and accurately describing the police riot at the Democratic Convention in Chicago, the comment has poignant relevance to our situation in Iraq. The presence of American troops preserves disorder in Iraq by preventing any of the multiplying factions from exerting control over the country. Inviability, the violence will continue until we leave and an organic solution emerges from the Iraqis themselves. There will no doubt be a bloodbath whenever we leave whether it be tomorrow or 2 years from now when the Bush Reign of Terror comes to its natural end. Warning of the coming violence is a last desperate attempt to rally popular support for a failed and immoral adventure. The sight of the little prince waxing sympathetic toward the mothers and fathers in Iraq is but one more sickening example of the RW's cynicism and immorality.
Democrats and any Republican who now values his/her country more than W's malignant legacy have to call this surge for what it is: a stupid escalation in an unwinnable war. And they need to speak and vote against it.
