Pay attention, Condi.
Transcript: John Kerry on "Day to Day" with Alex Chadwick

Dec 20, 2006

KERRY: I emphasize to you as we did to the administration, and I met with Secretary Rice before I left, we are a separate and co-equal branch of government. We have important responsibilities to our constituents and the American people for foreign policy. We saw an election of profound importance last November where the Democrats took control of the Congress and we have responsibilities as chairman of sub-committees, as members of the Foreign Relations Committee to get this right. I've been at this for a long time now and the efforts that I made with Vietnam, the efforts that I made with the Philippines, with Central America, with Latin America -- they all came about because we were prepared to try to engage in a discussion and I just believe that it's important to talk. Ronald Reagan talked to Gorbachev. Richard Nixon sent Kissinger to talk to the Chinese. We need to engage. This is too dangerous a world not to. And we're gonna, we're trying to help the administration and I think they will be pleased with today's discussion, I really do.

1. This is incredible
All it takes is two talks in two days, and enemies are ready to talk diplomacy. If Kerry accomplished this as Senator, can you imagine what he could do as president?

9. Imagine?
hell yeah. A whole different world. And to think we had DUers right up to the election dissing Kerry.

You do know that Kerry won but had his election stolen? And we, the people, are the losers?

13. Yeah, who woulda thunk * diplomacy * might actually help.

Hmmm.

Too bad BushCo has 100 times more power than any Democratic Senator or Senate delegation, and whatever good Kerry and Dodd do, BushCo will happily and hurriedly undo.

10. Kerry is doing well in two ways:
1)He's right, dialogue is important and he and the Congress can be making important strides there.
2)It's demonstrating the Congress is a separate branch of government and they're acting appropriately and independently without impeding naitonal policy. It's a quality balance.

11. Bush won't talk to Iran or Syria because he simply isn't capable
Bush would revert to his "bring em on" mentality and for sure start WWIII
