KCCI Poll Shows Vilsack 3rd Among Democratic Hopefuls (ahead of Hillary)
<snip>

The poll asked Iowa Democrats which candidates they would vote for if the 2008 Democratic caucus were held today.

The top three candidates were Sen. John Edwards at 22 percent, Democratic U.S. Sen. Barrack Obama at 22 percent and Vilsack at 12 percent. U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton of New York came in fourth at 10 percent.

KCCI political analyst Dennis Goldford said that Edwards left himself well-positioned from the caucuses.

"Barrack Obama is the rock star of the moment. What's interesting is Vilsack is ahead of Hillary Clinton in Iowa," he said.

2. Interesting...
Hillary has some work to do there...

Course now if these polls persist until caucuis time and she pulls up to second or even third it will be perceived as a good showing...

7. Well that clinches it...
You don't know anyone so he has no support...

Maybe the folks that voted to make him a popular Governor will take a look at him!!!

11. Well, I voted for him
as Governor and I don't support his bid for the presidency. Vilsack has gained....up from I think was 7% to 12%.

The LATEST Iowa poll, conducted by KCCI TV states the following:

Former Sen. John Edwards, North Carolina: 22 percent
Illinois Sen. Barack Obama: 22 percent
Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack: 12 percent
New York Sen. Hillary Clinton: 10 percent
Former Vice President Al Gore: 7 percent
Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry: 5 percent
Retired Gen. Wesley Clark: 4 percent
U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich, Ohio: 4 percent
Delaware Sen. Joe Biden: 1 percent
Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh: 1 percent
New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson: 1 percent
Undecided: 11 percent

This is a newer poll.

14. That poll is an excellent snapshot...
Of current preferences...but does not measure enthusiasm, or whether folks are willing to look at another candidate...

I wouldn't count Vilsack out yet...

13. And will get his ass creamed on FP by the Republican nominee.
Are we this stupid? Do we REALLY think Americans, blinded by the corporate media, are going to think that "poverty" is the No. 1 issue when we're still stuck in Iraq and threatening Iran?

Oh, come on! This isn't 1992!

16. I'm not stupid at all.
Americans might care because of one big post 9/11 event.

Remember Katrina?

How can we manage a crisis in another country if we can't manage one in our own?

Katrina was the nail in the Republican coffin for many Americans.

15. Agree, Edwards will win in Iowa.
The Republicans' failed foreign policies are pushing more and more Americans to focus on the issues that hit closest to home, and that is where Edwards shines.

19. I believe Vilsack is the governor of Iowa.
In my house, Daniel, better known as Schmoo the Prince of the Florida Keys, although only five years old, gets all of our votes for future president over all of the other nominees.

Conclusion: All politics are local.
