Nasty r-THUG says Sen. Tim Johnson became ill b'cas "God wants Republicans in charge"..

I was just scrolling through Google news on Senator Tim Johnson's status since we really haven't seen a lot of updates posted on here lately.

-----> Is this seriously how some Republicans think !?!?!

Look at this letter to the editor sent in to the Toledo Blade a few days ago from a Mr. Chad Arthur of Maumee, Ohio:

A sign from above?

"U.S. Sen. Tim Johnson, a South Dakota Democrat, was hospitalized with a life-threatening condition. In my view it only proves that God wants the Republicans in charge."

Mr. Arthur, you are one sick SON OF A BITCH!!

BTW, kudos to the other residents in that area who just today wrote in some great responses to that idiot!! These are all from today, so maybe that paper will continue to receive more letters? http://toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061221/OPINION03/612210355

I've never been to Ohio before and I'm sure there are "Chad Arthur's" in every state. But sheezus, I don't see how someone can write such a pathetic, evil comment in their local paper and then face their neighbors and community members afterwards??

As far as a recent update, ABC News/Reuters have a new article out indicating that Senator Johnson is recovering as expected.

Dec 21, 2006 — WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Sen. Tim Johnson remains in critical condition and is being kept sedated to aid his recovery from brain surgery last week, according to doctors statements released by his office on Thursday.

"Sen. Tim Johnson is recovering as expected from brain surgery and his brain pressures continue to be in the normal range," said Dr. Anthony Caputy of the George Washington University Hospital department of neurosurgery.

"Sen. Johnson is sedated to allow his systems to rest and recover from the hemorrhage and we anticipate no further tests or procedures in the near future," said neurosurgeon Vivek Deshmukh. "This is expected to continue through the holidays."

10. I think that's sadly correct.
Literally, any asshole. Whoever is the biggest asshole. Republicans bow down to fear, and therefore whoever is most threatening is who they view as God. That's why their leaders constantly try to instill fear through military force and removing human rights: I am serious, these guys are asshole whorshippers!!!

2. If Mr. Arthur is not a shill for the Democratic Party, maybe he should be.
Comments like his will only ensure that people vote against Republicans.

6. Welp.. here's what one of his neighbors said about God's hand in it..
Doesn't God have better things to do?

So God's got his hand in our political process, does he? The thought of Democrats being in charge of the U.S. Senate is so repugnant to him that he smote Sen.Tim Johnson, according to a Dec. 16 letter writer?

How ironic that with all his power, God even let the Democrats gain control in the first place. He could have manipulated the elections if he wanted to, perhaps making it rain all around the country so Democrats wouldn't even bother to vote, or even given them all the flu that day. He could have tampered with the ballots, like he did in Florida in 2000, or in Cuyahoga County in 2004.

But what about the House, where the Great Satans have a 28-seat majority? Would it look too suspicious if God brought calamity on all of them? And what of the lock on Congress that they held for 40 years? Didn't God hate them back then? Or maybe his eternal patience has just finally worn thin?

With all the disease, poverty, famine, war, torture, pestilence, brutality, starvation, and all manner of suffering that God has condoned on this planet every day for our entire history, he so hates Democrats that he just had to put a stop to them by striking down one senator from South Dakota? I think not.

But this sort of imbecilic, tribal mentality that God is with "us" and against "them" is exactly what we see from terrorists. It is well beneath the tenets of any worthwhile religion.

John Chadwick

Love that one line!: "his sort of imbecilic, tribal mentality that God is with "us" and against "them" is exactly what we see from terrorists"

Way to go Mr. Chadwick!

7. They the Wingnuts are the most vile people. What will he say
Edited on Fri Dec-22-06 01:53 AM by I_Make_Mistakes
when Senator Johnson recovers and takes his elected position?

This is their mentality, learned from an ex-bf, who slowly descended into Christian fundamentalism, if you are righteous (in their mind) good comes from God because you are special, if bad comes into your life, it's because you are so righteous, Satan is challenging. In that belief system, you and your values are always affirmed, because after all, you are God's favored!

(edit: to say, they can never, ever be wrong, or unrighteous in their own minds following this pattern. That is why you can not reason with them, because they have both sides of the argument covered and will get you in a circular motion in a discussion that will make you so dizzy you'll vomit!

It confirms that study quoted here recently, that most Bush followers are mentally challenged, including Bush himself!

8. Where was their "God" on election day?
If their "God" had wanted the Republicans in charge, he/she/it could have easily interceded with a November miracle. And if he/she/it had wanted a godless Democrat smitten, he/she/it would have completed the deed quickly and not left anything to chance, given the marvels of modern medicine. So given evidence to the contrary that no one's deity was personally involved in the Senator's illness, Mr. Arthur can easily be categorized as the nutjob that he is.
