The enlisted men who want more troops. |
|
I think might be similar to the bush* trip a couple of years ago when he took a plastic turkey to Iraq for Thanksgiving.Their superiors came in their rooms and asked for a show of hands. Who likes bush* and wants to meet him?

1. I have no doubt the soldiers were selected for their |

pro-war opinions, just like dimson selects his audiences. It's pretty transparent and getting old.

2. I think many ground troops really do want more troops brought in |
|
Mind you, they don't want an increase in the number of troops in Iraq, they just want more troops to come and relieve them. Without extra troops, the men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan will probably be forced to stay there for years and never allowed to go home.

5. That's the way I see it: They are looking for relief from |
|
larger troop numbers. Time off, a return to their other jobs, a chance to work their families out of debt after having been deployed and away from the money-maker jobs they had before. They want a break. And if there are more troops with them in IRaq, maybe they think they won't be as likely to get killed while they are training the Iraqis.
Of course, there are also the blood-and-guts types that want more violence.

4. LOL, you got that right ... |

I was only one of three officers out of about 100 in my Officers' Basic Course that had the nerve to admit (raised my hand) that I voted for Carter. :wow:
At the risk of dating myself, I believe that my figurative descendants are out there ... somewhere today. <sigh> In my wildest idealistic dreams, I see the entire "Joint Chiefs of Staff" resigning when King George unilaterally orders "a surge" of troops in Iraq.
Hey! I can dream of a just world, can't I?

But aside from that, I bet anyone who's been taking fire would say they want more help.

7. Why wouldn't they not want MORE? They weren't asked if they want to go home. |
|
NO ONE wants to be among the last 50 troops on the ground.
OF COURSE they want more troops!
