I am so sick of talk of who in '08.
Are there no other issues facing our country today?

Its like standing in front of your house, flames coming out of the windows, and the discussion is not about the fire that will destroy the structure, its about what color to paint the shutters.

OMG IS EVERYBODY OUT OF THEIR MINDS at the MSM????????

Jeezees F-ing Christ! :banghead:

1. I don't why they are talking about 2008 we still have to deal
Edited on Fri Dec-22-06 10:34 AM by alyce douglas
with the imbecile who is still in the WH, and his continuous grandiose delusional schemes. More distraction tactics from our uninformative MSM.

8. Yes! I agree. Restore the Fairness in Broadcasting Doctrine.
BUT we in cyberspace must make sure we don't become an echoeing chamber of right-winged spin ourselves!

Truth. We need to be about truth.

4. I think "who in '08'" is the most important issue today.
Edited on Fri Dec-22-06 10:54 AM by robcon
Taking over both houses of Congress was incredibly important. But taking over the executive branch is orders of magnitude more important. We have to do it right: get someone who will win.

enable us to get legislation passed (no veto of progressive legislation)
appoint reasonable judges
smart commander-in-chief

6. I think the Democrats should go stealth.
Of course you are correct, but right now its just a distraction and takes the focus off other outstanding issues like a phony war and an illegitimate pretzeldent.

7. I don't get you at all.
Why are the words "phony war" and "illegitimate pretzeldent" important?

As long as he is in power, rhetoric has no impact, IMO.

It's the presidential election in '08 that is important. We can't change the current dufus-in-chief before '08, IMO. He's weakened and unpopular, but he still has the power to veto, the power to appoint judges, and the power to command the military.

We need to discuss the presidential prospects for '08 every moment - that's FAR more important than what Congress can do in '07 or '08.

10. What we do today with the Majority IS IMPORTANT, no?
"We need to discuss the presidential prospects for '08 every moment - that's FAR more important than what Congress can do in '07 or '08."

WHAT?

I am sorry , I think that logic is missing the mark. No offence, you and I are intittled to our opinions.

13. OK, 8643, we'll disagree.
I think what Congress does over the next two years will have little or no effect on creating a progressive government - and you don't agree.

14. I am trying to be positive not negative.
But If you remember, this country had a very popular president and it only took a unified Republican controlled House and Senate to Impeach this popular president.

If you are asking me if I think the Democratic led H&S could unify for a cause as the republicans did, my gut reaction is (I wont type it out loud). I am trying to be positive.

Yes 08 is critical for us but there are things that the H&S can do that till then that is also very important.
I believe that is where the time should be spent today, If we are able to prove progressive movement and fix some of the ills then we would stand a better chance in 08. Maybe!?

there is work to be done today and tomorrow, I dont think we are as far apart on this as you might think.

I never ment to imply that it is not important who wins the WH in 08. I dont mind the political positioning thats going on today.

What I dont like is how much time the MSM is giving to the speculation of who in "08.
I am of the belief that there are more important things going on politically, nationally and globally than who will win nomination for president from either party. Much time has been dedicated to John McCain, hell he might die of natural causes by then.

As far as Sen. Kerry, if he is a good candidate today why wouldnt he be just as good in 1.5 years?

The GOP smear machine will have more time to plan the attack strategy for the front runner.

If you can tell me why you think having John Kerry or whoever and their opponents on the idiot box day and night instead of real reporting on the issues that effect us all please explain it to me, I want to learn and understand.

I am drained, best to all today.

Look, this is a message board where all sort of people interested in politics come to chat. Naturally some of us will speculate about the 2008 race, whether there are more pressing matters or not. Some of us even contribute and talk about both!

16. I'd just like to be able to enjoy the November election
and our Democratic Congress coming into power. I'm really turned off on ALL the candidates, because of
hearing about them all the time. It's just so sickening because the Senators don't even work on their
own jobs we've elected them for before they start this nonsense of wanting to be President for Heaven's
sake. With all the senators ruming for president, our majority is going to fast be back to the Minority
status. Why in the world waste my time on them anymore?

23.  I hate it
screw all the politicians who are out there tossing their swollen hats into the ring . They are not anything more than humans who are talked about and treated just like some sort of super star and even these are insane hype .

I want to try to make it to 2008 with a better world first , if we can't do this then who cares what fool runs and spends a fortune campaigning for the next 2 years .

People act like this is some sort of dating game , who would you choose for what crap .
