I knew who I wanted to vote for when I went in. I could not find parking and ended up parking across the street. I thought "WOW what a turnout". Turns out I happened to have picked the moment that every single one of the several hundred grade school children who attend the school where I vote was arriving for the school day. Turns out I was voter # 18, and the polls had been open 2 hours.

I really do like the notion of a secret ballot. It allows us as citizens to speak our minds without fear of reprisal. Though I don't think anyone here has their bayonets out wanting to know if I voted for Stalin or no one, so I feel confident without fear of reprisial, in saying I voted for Dean.

Don't let low turnout this early fool you. It'll pick up. :-)

6. I would like to agree with you |

but I live in a very conservative area of northern VA. Most of my neighbors are involved with CIA (Langley is only about 20 minutes from my house) or other parts of the military industrial complex (E.g. Airbus US HQ is about 10 minutes). The other major industries in the area, the Airlines (Dulles is 15 from home) and the HQ for the AOL portion of Time Warner along with MCI corporate HQ provide some Democratic base but it is small. An election judge friend of mine said they are only expecting 10% of the electorate at most to vote in the county.

our primaries, would we?
Besides, here in Arlington, and also in Alexandria, there are plenty of Dems. I was voter #161 at around 9:30 AM. I would have liked to have seen a lot more folks but maybe they will come in later today.
