What Jeb's going to miss: fresh towels
What Jeb's going to miss: fresh towels

By The News-Press Capital Bureau
December 22, 2006

Before spending his last night in the Governor's Mansion, Gov. Jeb Bush confided Thursday what he really likes about the place -- including unlimited fresh towels.

After a ceremony opening a new library at the mansion and accepting his official portrait, which will hang on the Capitol's first floor, the governor ran into probably his final gaggle with Capitol reporters as he returned to work. Among other things, he was asked what he will miss most when Gov.-elect Charlie Crist moves in.

"What am I going to miss about the mansion? It's beauty, its tradition, the food," said Bush. "The hot water -- the water pressure in the hot water is unbelievable. I told Charlie to be careful; I don't know how it is in St. Pete but in Miami, the water doesn't come on that fast and doesn't come on immediately hot."

"I don't know how it is in your life but it's -- most of the time, you know, most people take showers and you use towels six or seven times," he said, "but here, although I've been trained to do otherwise, any time I want, I can have a new towel."

OUT, OUT, DAMN SPOT!!

Jeb signals end with 'no future' comment, December 22, 2006

Three words in Spanish appear to have signalled a recognition by the Bush family that their dynastic reign in American politics is drawing to a close.

"No tengo futuro" — "I have no future" — Governor Jeb Bush told Spanish-speaking reporters in Florida as he prepared to leave office and was asked whether he still had political ambitions.

snip

But with the ratings of his brother President George W Bush's languishing at 36 per cent as he struggles to formulate a new Iraq policy after his "thumping" at the polls last month, the Bush name is a low-priced commodity.

The Bush Plague has mercifully run its course. Heckuva job, W.

And we really, really mean it.

1. Is the whole clan getting together to celebrate Christmas?
I wonder, cause I was just imagining the tension in the room amongst all of them, especially between W and Jebbie. :D

6. And in some hotels they ask you to re-use your towels....
even some higher-end hotels. Because these people have raped the rest of us to become filthy wealthy, they will never know the pain that their wastefulness will cause the rest of us in the future.

20. Because it saves them money
Changing them every day means higher costs in labor and laundry. My standard business translation: "For your convenience" = "for our bottom line".

Fresh towels are my mother's idea of luxury. However, she has to change, wash and fold them herself.

re the poster who mentioned that little hot water means problems with the pipes or hot water heater: having replaced a couple hot water heaters over the decades, you've hit it spot on. However, I think with Bush's upbringing he thinks the water magically appears when you turn the tap: he has no idea of all the people, work and effort it takes to make it happen. Maybe he thinks there are hordes of "little people" waiting with buckets of heated water just for him, just like in the good old days. How do you say "Let them eat cake" in Spanish?

8. Is he too cheap to pay for those luxuries himself?
Because you know, after all his crooked land deals, he can well afford it. But I think they all have a cheap streak - love freebies, love feeding at the public trough, don't want to pay for things themselves. I read in one of the Bush biographies that they once left the family dog overseas for a holiday because they didn't want to pay for his flight, and that once Old George was too cheap to put Babs in first class.

12. Such telling statements--he is as dumb as a post
"Hot" water has nothing to do with the city water system but more with the pipes and water heater in the house. He said "in Miami the water doesn't come out that fast or immediately hot".

The Bush family is the most spoiled, privileged, insulated bunch of idiots I have ever seen. Remember old Senior Bush and the supermarket scanners? The rotten apples don't fall far from the bush.

13. America says goodbye to the Wimp, the Blimp and the Chimp.
This mediocre, over-privileged family and their imperialist ambitions are circling the drain.

It did not work out very well for them.

LOL!!! Hilarious, but I'm afraid it did work out very well for them. They've all made tons of dough "serving" the public, I'm afraid. Amd that's what they really care about.

17. But now, Americans are finally on to them and they will forever be on the run.
Thank goodness for Al Gore's Internet(s) and what was once a relatively small group of concerned citizens.

Happy holidays, senseandsensibility! It's going to be a GOOD 2007 and beyond... I feel it in my bones.
