Simple question: Can the new congress stop this madman |
|
from sending more troops into Iraq?
As an aside - the is what I think about impeachment. The new congress will do investigation after investigation on these criminals under oath. The American people will be so outraged that they will demand impeachment. That's one reason it "isn't on the table."

2. the more accurate question should be - |
|
Can the We, the People stop this madman?
There is no doubt in my mind that this question must be answered by us... We must hound, badger, harass, and pester our leaders that we will throw them ALL OUT if they do not do act according to the will of the People.

I think they will let it just sort of go one until Bush is gone. It seems the easy way out.

5. Democrats cannot risk to appear as cosmetically different from GOP |

The first issue that the Democratic Congress will have to face is Bush's troop surge in Iraq, a move that has been described as wasteful and reckless by Colin Powell and other generals.
The American people demand a change in course in Iraq, not another escalation of the violence. No matter how the "troop surge" is marketed to the public by the neocons and their allies, it is nothing more than an escalation of the failed stay-the-course policy that Bush has followed all along.
This war is about to end in 2007, and there are two ways in which this war will end:
1. The Democratic Congress shuts down the war by voting to cutoff all funding for the surge and passes a resolution in which only funds to bring the troops home can be spend, or
2. Bush gets his way and sends our troops to a "Stalingrad on the Tigris."
Either way, the war will be over!

and I hope they have the time to implement the strategy of investigation until the American public demands impeachment. But with Bush set to start yet another war, I don't know if they will have the luxury of doing it.
