Do you share my disgust with these statements DU?
Subtitle: Right-Wing Nut's Self-Serving, Delusional Logic

I read the following comment at the bottom of the article found here: http://seesdifferent.wordpress.com/2006/12/23/bush-congratulates-wounded-army-pfc/

It struck me as so mis-informed I thought, "Surely this person is joking." (or only receives their news from Fox, well...). Sadly, I think she believes the things she said.

wyattmic, on 12.24.2006 wrote:
"Yeah, I think our men and women deserve better too. For example, no more pathetic remarks such as “I support the troops, but not this war”. Insane. You can’t have it both ways. If you are not for the US winning the war in Iraq (which we are doing) then you cannot in any way, shape or form support our troops. I’m not sure if you’ve heard or not, but the men and women fighting in Iraq volunteered to serve their country. I can’t remember the date the draft ended, but you could google it. We are blessed with a top notch military that is completely volunteer — cool, huh? They make it possible for my family to have a Merry Christmas by keeping our nation safe and the terrorists miserable. I’m sure that soldier in the picture is honored to spend time with the Commander in Chief."

As I clicked the link to wyattmic About Me page I thought this would be bad. I believe myself to have been correct.

"Happily married for 21 years and the mother of one beautiful daughter. Family and friends are the most important to me. Our family is unashamedly Christian and I believe we have more fun than 10 heathen families combined. We have two dogs, a boxer, Harley, and a boston terrier, Daisy. They keep us entertained.

I enjoy politics but have a strong dislike of the liberal agenda. Notice I said liberal agenda, not liberals personally;) I think being a liberal is like having a mental illness — something that cannot be helped without proper medication, but in the case of liberals, something that cannot be helped without proper education."

I support our troops. What I don't support is forcing them to fight in an immoral and illegal war because chimpy wants to protect uncle dicks' pipeline!

Where do these people come? What sad circumstance leads to such a narrow minded viewpoint? I mean come on, "something that cannot be helped without proper education." Does that mean brainwashing people by holding their eyelids open in front of a live 24 hour feed of sean hannity?

Who needs the education here, really? Do you share my disgust DU?

1. I used to get mad about people who hold those views...
But fortunately that clouded line of reasoning has become far less politically relevant of late. These days I don't pay much attention to all those people trying to tell me I'm crazy or that I hate America. Elections have consequences, you know...

3. I just don't get it
How can you think like that? 2+2=5 just because a lot of people said it a lot of times?

I am not so much mad as I am bewildered. I mean what a mis-guided line of reasoning.

12. They just conflate the war with "support the troops"
We see it as "end the war, bring the troops home", because we want the soldiers to be home and safe. They see it as "win the war", because they think that's all that matters to the troops. They also often buy into the argument that we need to "win to honor the sacrifices already made".

2. HAve you noticed their new meme is how uneducated
liberals are? This isn't the first time I've read that. Who started up that bullshit? We are against this war, not against the troops, precisely because we take the time to look at the issue, read, and are not being led around by the likes of Limbaugh or Hannity. And why can't we have it both ways, support the troops while opposing the war? Who made that rule?:eyes:

5. I don't remember where I read it
but there was some research done that shows a correlation between the higher degree of education you have, the more likely you are to be liberal (and non-religious).

*MORE LIKELY* - not all people, in all cases, of course.

Edited on Sun Dec-24-06 05:38 PM by silverweb
It's been well demonstrated that the conservative mind is psychologically disordered, not the liberal mind. Therefore, nothing this deluded woman says counts for anything in the real world.

We have too much work to do to waste time on her and others like her. Pity her for her self delusion, then step past her and leave her with those delusions she clings to.

Let's move on NOW to start repairing the damage that neocons and radical fundamentalists have done to our nation and the world.

Oh, and Happy Holidays! :hi:

Great Advice. It is that picture of her though, and the disturbing thoughts about how mis-guided that little girl will probably end up as a result of her mother's views. Very sad.

Happy Holidays!

Let's just hope the little girl starts thinking for herself soon and leaves her mother's narrowmindedness far behind.

26. look at this
For now, we’ll ignore how odd it is that I’m taking the time to blog on Christmas Eve. This just made me laugh a little too much.

(and yes, I do feel a little dirty linking to DU)

Anyway, apparently this whole thing started at this WP blog, where my mom commented to defend the troops. Obviously, some libby was offended and took it to the DU. Seriously, cracks me up.

My favorites (for no obvious reason, haha):

“It is that picture of her though, and the disturbing thoughts about how mis-guided that little girl will probably end up as a result of her mother’s views. Very sad.”

“Let’s just hope the little girl starts thinking for herself soon and leaves her mother’s narrowmindedness far behind.”

Oh, if that doesn’t make for a Merry Christmas, I don’t know what does! Now, this “little girl” needs to get some sleep so she can wake up and open her presents in the morning. I’ve been writing Santa all year for a Barbie Dreamhouse and an Ann Coulter action figure to go with it!

http://tiekitwist.wordpress.com/

I guess that is the daughter in the picture. seems like it's already too late. sigh.

Oh, heavens! Dear me! I didn't see the picture of the "little girl" posted after my comment in time to realize that she's not 10 anymore.

For that she's lowered herself to posting on Xmas Eve and linking to DU?

Or is she just thrilled to be getting some attention? :D

8. Why Can't You Have It Both Ways?
...why is it so *impossible* to support the troops AND be against this war? I don't get it.

Wing nuts are not that smart. They have to be black and white because they just do not have enough brains to think for themselves, they have to let other people do their thinking for them.

As for their gossip about liberals being ignorant ~ we libs have been snickering at the ignorance of right wingnuts forever. We all know educated people are usually liberal because they are intelligent enough to see things in a more complicated way. Hell, intelligent people whether they have a degree or not are usually liberal because well, smart people "get" more things.

These wingnuts are just picking up that talking point and throwing it back because they know we have been laughing at their stupidity for a long time and like stooopid people do, they cannot come up with anything themselves, so they take other people's ideas and words and pretend it is their own.

My 2 cents

13. Hmmm...
I guess I am an "uneducated" and "unenlightened" type of person. And a proud Liberal. I come from working class people who taught us values, how to treat people with respect, to support the U.S. military and defense of the U.S. IF THE CAUSE IS A JUST ONE, to put our money where our mouths are, etc. And yet all I have is a partial college education, due to certain circumstances. So I guess my stupidity comes from even trying to understand the freeper mindset. Sorry freeps, I just don't get it. In reality I feel sorry for these folks because it must be tough gto go through life like that.

And don't worry about the rest of the family!!!!

The husband is sleeping with his secretary and will dump shit-for-brains after the holidays.

The daughter will wind up marrying a Democratic Congressman, and her wingnut mother will whine and bitch about it while she sits in front of FreeAK Republic for hours on end in her old tattered bath robe inhaling bon bons and collecting unemployment.

Oh --- and those dogs will run away and be found by a wonderful Democrat who will feed them delicious steak bones every day and will spoil them rotten!

P.S. that wingnut pathetic hair dye job looks like CRAP too. (And that photo is a year old) Freepers are really pathetic souls.

as some right-wing dinger conservative's claim to be a champion for the "culture of life" and still support some bloody illegimate war.
In her feeble mind, it's not having it both ways as long as the innocent non-combatants getting slaughterd on their own sidewalk streets are non-christians paying the horrendous ultimate price, unlike her who has probably done very little to support "OUR TROOPS" besides posting it somewhere, or slapping a bumper sticker on her car. How many quarts of blood has she or any of her phony patriot ilk donated to a nearby Veterans Hospital? I don't support this FXXXXX war, but has she given fourteen quarts ever since 9/11?
How many times has she or her chickenhawk cronies visited the V.A. with books and magazines or volunteered any time to just sit around and bullshit with ANY veteran? Has she been fortunate enough to do so twice a month over the past three years? BUT I don't support this FXXXXX war.
So until phonies and hypocrites like her truly step up to the plate themselves in any small way, they need to STFU!

I can tell that she lives in Lander, Wyoming.

Her husband (when that photo was taken anyway) name is Ted. Her teenage daughter's name is "Tieki Rae" and it's TOO late. You can do a Google and you'll find that Tieki Rae already has her own blog and ... .. Chuck is right, her mother got to her already.

24. That means her support for the troops is conditional.
She only wants the troops to come back home safely in wars that she supports. Unless, of course, she's simply saying that she'll mindlessly support any war the United States wages. But she's probably too entrenched in her mindset to even realize the implications of saying "you can't have it both ways".Also funny that her criticism would apply to her own compatriots on the right who oppose the war. I wonder how she felt about the conflict in the Balkans. I'd wager she had some problems with "Clinton's war". Without this kind of completely unthinking Bushbot in the Republican base, Bush's approval would probably sink into oblivion.
