Where are the media attacks on Kerry?
Oh sure I see a spot here or there about Kerry, but nothing like Dean got just before Iowa.

In fact I still see more negative ads against Dean than I do Kerry.

In fact Faux News was stating that Dean should drop out of the race because he's hurting the Democrats chances. They didn't say that about Clark or Edwards. In fact they said Edwards should be able to give Kerry a good fight. Funny Dean has more delegates than Edwards and still has more support than Edwards. Why single out Dean as being detrimental to the campaign?

Gillespie barely attacks Kerry with "he's more liberal than Kennedy"
Remember how much the GOP went after Dean.

I think the GOP and Media really want Kerry as the nomination.
You can decide why they would want that.

1. You have a point
It is hard to know who the RNC really wants to run against, since clearly telegraphing their feelings could be dangerous with the Dems so committed to ABB. The lack of ads against Kerry is telling in that respect.

2. here is one: Kerry Exaggerates Role in Some Key Legislative Battles
He says he "led the fight" on several fronts, but few bills bear his name.

Summary

John Kerry is fond of saying "I led the fight" on a lot of things -- against Arctic drilling, against Bush's Medicare prescription drug legislation, for federal grants for 100,000 new police officers, against Newt Gingrich's attempts to lessen environmental regulations.

But reporters who cover Congress often gave others credit for the leading roles in some of those fights -- with scant mention of Kerry.

And The Associated Press last July found that only eight laws had Kerry as their lead sponsor, five of them "ceremonial," two relating to the fishing industry, and one providing federal grants to support small businesses owned by women.

3. Media chiefs back Kerry campaign
Owen Gibson
Tuesday February 10, 2004

Fresh from his latest win in Maine, the favourite to challenge George Bush for the US presidency has secured the financial support of some of the most powerful media moguls in the world.

As John Kerry's campaign to secure the Democrat nomination - and with it a crack at the White House - continues to gather pace, it has emerged that it is being bankrolled by key executives from News Corporation, MTV-owner Viacom and Sony.
...
Others who have pledged to raise more than $50,000 include the Viacom chief executive, Sumner Redstone, and Sony chairman Howard Stringer, whose name has recently been linked with the vacant chairmanships at ITV and the BBC.
...
US political commentators have speculated that Mr Kerry has enjoyed the support of the media community in an effort to head off the challenge of Howard Dean, who has fallen back in the race despite being the frontrunner before the primaries began. Mr Dean made statements last year about wanting to break up media conglomerates.

4. what do you want them to attack him for ?
fox news was going after him for his criticisms of bush and the national guard. they made it seem as if he was attacking bush for joining the guard when he was going after bush for NOT being in the guard when he should have as shown from lack of evidence. he was calling on bush to tell what happened and show proof if he did do his work in the guard. they started going after kerry for protesting vietnam war when he got back.

6. They're trying to hold off until Dean is out of the race
So they can destroy Kerry and there will be no onle left to pick up the pieces. People NEED to vote for Dean to keep him in the race so when the GOP does go after Kerry there is a back up candidate if Kerry is destroyed! Don't play into the hands of Bush and company! Be SMART! Keeping Dean in the race is CRUCIAL!

7. Media and Bush
The media, even Fox, may honestly (at least to themselves) sense that Bush may be toast, and are merely looking for the most *orderly* transition of power, and they're looking for the least rabble-rousing Democrat to at least let Bush leave withour DESTROYING the Republican party in its current form. That may seem extreme, but I really think they're unravelling fast. Kerry fits the bill as the establishment guy. The repugs must loathe him, nevertheless, they just don't want to look like losers (the losers that they are).

10. Kerry went after FCC in June and that's why the media propped up only Dean
for most of last year and kept Kerry's candidacy from being heard.

Dean collapsed because his candidacy was built on lies and misrepresentations. He couldn't hold up to scrutiny.

>>>>>>
As Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, Kerry expressed concern that the FCC’s decision will hurt localism, reduce diversity, and will allow media monopolies to flourish. He said this raises significant concerns about the potential negative impacts the decision will have on small businesses and their ability to compete in today’s media marketplace.

In a statement released earlier regarding the FCC’s decision, Kerry said:
“Nothing is more important in a democracy than public access to debates and information, which lift up our discourse and give Americans an opportunity to make honest informed choices. Today’s wrongheaded vote by the Republican members of the FCC to loosen media ownership rules shows a dangerous indifference to the consolidation of power in the hands of a few large entities rather than promoting diversity and independence at the local level. The FCC should do more than rubber stamp the business plans of narrow economic interests.

“Today’s vote is a complete dereliction of duty. The Commissioners are well aware that these rules greatly influence the competitive structure of the industry and protect the public’s access to multiple sources of information and media,” he said. “It is the Commission’s responsibility to ensure that the rules serve our national goals of diversity, competition, and localism in media. With today’s vote, they shirked that responsibility and have dismissed any serious discussion about the impact of media consolidation on our own democracy.”
