What The Hell Is Going On? * Makes Statement On Ford With "Western White House" Seal In Background?
I thought that term was something his partners in crime used as sort of an "endearing" reference to his residenence in Crawford, not something that has an official seal on it, and used in the background as he makes a major statement on the passing of a president? Is this his way of saying that he'll ALWAYS be in the White House? Or, wherever he lives, it will be called the White House? I can see it now . . . He's in some cold, damp, dark cell somewhere. He'll be there for the rest of his life, due to his conviction as a war criminal, among other things. He writes home to mommy (He won't be on speaking or writing terms with daddy), and for the return address he writes "The _______________ White House." The letter is never sent, but he gets it back, stamped "Return to sender, address unknown." O.K., I went off on a tangent there, oh well.
Besides al that, * looked like shit. His hair was all over the place, and his handlers didn't prepare him very well for this appearance. Just my thoughts.

1. Not to defend *, but it's hardly unprecedented.

3. From the westernwhitehouse.org website:
"Crawford's official motto is '1295 miles from Washington DC, 97% White, and ARMED TO THE TEETH!'"

This definitely gets added to the favorites file.

2. Not new - that crappy setup has been in place - I like and visualize
the tangent you went on Dinger.
"The Dutch Hague White House" works for me. And I, too, was astonished at how dishevelled ** looks. I suspect what has undone his appearance is not the hard work at the Western White House seeking answers about Iraq, but the hard celebrating on his first night out of the Eastern White House. That's about as rough as I've seen him look with a suit on.

Bush remarks on death of Gerald Ford

2 hours, 28 minutes ago

CRAWFORD, Texas - Transcript of remarks made by President Bush on the death of Gerald Ford.

All of us are saddened by the news that former President Gerald R. Ford passed away last night. I spoke with Betty Ford. On behalf of all Americans, Laura and I extend to Mrs. Ford and all of President Ford's family our prayers and our condolences.

President Ford was a great man who devoted the best years of his life in serving the United States. He was a true gentleman who reflected the best in America's character. Before the world knew his name he served with distinction in the United States Navy and in the United States Congress. As a congressman from Michigan and then as vice president, he commanded the respect and earned the good will of all who had the privilege of knowing him. On Aug. 9, 1974, he stepped into the presidency without ever having sought the office. He assumed power in a period of great division and turmoil. For a nation that needed healing, and for an office that needed a calm and steady hand, Gerald Ford came along when we need him most.

During his time in office, the American people came to know President Ford as a man of complete integrity who led our country with common sense and kind instincts. Americans will always admire Gerald Ford's unflinching performance of duty and the honorable conduct of his administration and the great rectitude of the man himself. We mourn the loss of such a leader. And our 38th president will always have a special place in our nation's memory. President Ford lived 93 years and his life was a blessing for America. And now this fine man will be taken to his rest by a family that will love him always and by a nation that will be grateful to him forever. May God bless Gerald Ford.

11. He looks hung over.
I highly doubt that he wrote that statement last night when the news came out. He was drunk.

6. Didn't he have a jacket made with a little insignia sewn on
that said "Commander In Chief"? This was one of Karen Hughs's ideas.

For some reason, your post brought back to me memories of "the jacket".

9. It should be the "Southern Whitehouse"
Texas is not "the west", it's the south. Keep it there.

10. In reality, the White House wherever the president is at the time
In the same way that any fixed wing aicraft carrying the president is Air Force One. It's a military designation, not a political one, and applies to every president.
