I posted a letter from a local paper the other day. It was a shocking one, and it had no redeeming qualities at all. In fact it was scary and sick.
"Seven Good Reasons To Keep Our Troops On Iraq Battleground"..scary letter. Here is just one of them...Reason #7 should curl your hair.
7. The Pentagon has a readily available place to test new or improved equipment in a real world environment.
But there have been a couple of letters since that give some hope for this area...sort of.
Bush Made a Huge MistakeI think the people responsible for electing President G.W. Bush are starting to see the damage this president has done to America. Our young people in the armed services are dying every day because this president is unable to face the fact he has made a huge mistake in declaring war on a nation who didn't attack the United States.
Members of his own party including the military leaders in Iraq have told this president that his kind of victory in Iraq isn't possible. The president keeps saying he is listening to all sides in order to make a decision on moving forward. The problem with this thinking is people who have the knowledge are trying their best to give advice but the president isn't listening because what he hears isn't what he wants to hear and our young men and women continue to die because this president is unable to admit failure.
The American people have listened to this president long enough and only harsh demands will either change this president's thinking or it is time to impeach. The country isn't able to take two more years of this Bush war.
Here is another. One of these people has never written a letter to the paper before, so I am proud of them. They are speaking out.
A War We Cannot WinIt's time to bring our soldiers back home, The soldiers of our military have completed all assigned tasks, from defeating Saddam to installing a new government. The military machine of the United States is now worn out, spread too thin, soldiers doing multi combat tours and are now just worn out. All this you can blame the politicians in Washington for constantly wanting to cut back on our Armed Forces, you get what you reap. We are forgetting what another world power did just a few years ago, broken military, soldiers worn out, and their economy busted, history repeats itself and we're it. History has shown that that area will always be a troubled area, they have been fighting for thousands of years and will continue, that area has always hated western influence and always will.
I was there during the Gulf War and the joke was when we left was "We'll be back in 10 years," didn't miss that by much. Our military personnel has been cut back but the missions for them to do has increased.
..."Bring the troops home and give them a hero's welcome they so much deserve, They completed all assigned missions above and beyond the call of duty. For the people that sit back, complain, and are able to serve in the military but don't want to, we call you "Arm Chair Generals," you see only one side, until you walk a mile in a soldiers boots, keep you mouth shut civilian, only complain what you have experienced and that's not much.
So it gives some hope after the letter from two days before Christmas.
