his first memoir.

It is not only beautifully written, it reveals a depth of knowledge, insights, experiences, honest self-reflection, and keen-eyed observations that paint an enormously compelling picture of what he has to offer.

1. Do I have to read a candidate's memoir to be sure?
If you can't articulate your candidate's experience and knowledge in short paragraphs, it would be a waste of time for us to read his memoir. How old is Obama? A memoir already??

2. Of course you don't have to read it - my post was directed to those who are interested in actually

learning something about candidates beyond two paragraph Readers Digest, boil-it-down-to-two-paragraphs-so-that-even-George-W-Bush-can-understand-it soundbytes.

And yes, a memoir already. If you were to read it, you'll understand why, even at his young age, a memoir was warranted. Even if it doesn't make you want to vote for him, you will no doubt learn something.

3. 100 million copies of memoir sold
Quickest way to become a billionaire. Are you gonna explain his memoir without asking us to buy his book?

4. Why do I need to explain it any further to you?
Edited on Wed Dec-27-06 11:49 PM by beaconess
If you want to read it go buy it, borrow it or get it from the library. If you don't want to read it - either because it's more than two paragraphs long, you don't want to go through the trouble of obtaining a copy, or I haven't written you a book report to fully explain everything about it to you - don't read it.

6. That is just mean
If you don't like Barack Obama fine. but, you don't have to come in and post mean things.
Go to the Edwards posts and enjoy but, don't trash our candidate.

7. I have no problem with Obama the man or the candidate
I don't mean to rain on your parade. Supporting one's candidate is fine, but can we please hear more than just "he is the greatest", "he is the only one", or "buy his book"?

9. this is what the person who posted
wants this to be about. Respect that. There was a posting awhile ago that was full of policy and legislation of his and it was quite a long list. It is also very impressive. It's probably on page 2 now but, it's alot more substansive.
But, the person who posted this wanted to discuss the book.

8. No need to be so snippy, neolib
The OP was merely suggesting that people interested in Obama read his Dreams From My Father. One can go to the library and read the book there. OP was not pitching the book for people to buy.
