Classic end of the year Conservative Whining - Trent Lott |
|
Jackson, MS lawyer Mike Wallace has asked bush to withdraw his name as a nominee to the 5th U. S. Circuit Court of Appeals. You know the story, evil liberals don't want to put a qualified bigot and brilliant conservative mind of the 17th Century in such an important job. So how does Trent Lott react:
"I'm disappointed that petty partisanship WHICH HAS RECENTLY STUNTED WASHINGTON and prevented Congress from producing results on issues, has also kept a highly qualified judicial nominee from serving."
So there you have it. Petty partisanship is a recent phenomenon in Washington. I guess my Senator told you all what for huh??

1. No mention of Senator Leahy's comments (below) -eh? |
|
But Leahy entered a statement into the committee record on Sept. 5 that stated in part that the ABA's written testimony regarding its rating of Wallace "details the significant concerns raised by numerous jurists around the country regarding Mr. Wallace's judicial temperament, lack of commitment to equal justice for the poor and minorities, lack of tolerance and open-mindedness."
Leahy's statement went on to say: "The report details concerns from judges and lawyers that Mr. Wallace 'may not follow the law' and is driven by his 'personal agenda' and that he lacks common courtesy.
"Of course, the troubling issues raised in the ABA's testimony echo significant concerns about Mr. Wallace's terrible record on civil rights, his opposition to the Voting Rights Act, his support for tax exemptions for Bob Jones University, his opposition to prison safety regulations, and his attempt as President Reagan's director of the board of the Legal Services Corp. to undermine efforts to provide legal services to low-income clients."

3. BOSSHOG, at least that old fossil Domenici is having the good |

grace to retire after this term. Vacant Lott shows no sign at all of running out of gas and bowing out gracefully.
Bipartisanship to the GOP means, "You do what WE say," and the rest of us certainly know it. I doubt there's a Democrat or Indie in this country who reads his statement without a wry laugh.
Pubbies have no sense of irony, do they?

And man, is it ever true!
And no, they have NO sense of irony. They probably think irony is what "the help" does with their dress shirts.

5. Never at a loss to blame those not in power |
|
First it was the poor and powerless (a long American political tradition there) now it is the Democrats who can't even hold meetings let alone affect the nomination process at least not yet.
The funny thing is that this is all a repeat-you can look up the numbers but when Jeffords flipped and gave the Dems control in the Senate the Republicans had done NADA in terms of judicial nominations. Zero nothing but all the projectors screamed about obstruction and "not doing their JOB!!" little did we know how little it was possible to do as exhibited by the Repubs since then.

6. So if the rubber stamping of GW's nominees |
|
end then it is partisanship. The American people spoke in this election they said we do not like what the GOP is doing. We need a change in direction. But when the Democratic party tries to stop a nomination then it is partisanship. On for '08 to come quicker when this era of a supreme ruler will end.

8. Well, who's been in charge recently in Washington, Mr. Lott? |
|
Nobody but the Republicans. So how "recent" are we talking? In the last week? The last couple of months? The last 12 years? Guess what, Mr. Lott? You and your political compatriots were in control of Congress during just about all of that time.
And as for a "highly qualified" nominee, why did the ABA give Mr. Wallace a "not qualified" rating? Before you answer, keep in mind that the insurance company that's trying to dodge its responsibility to you for damage from Hurricane Katrina is being held accountable by damnable trial lawyers.
Go ahead, sir.
