Didn't John Edwards used to have a mole or something
on the left side of his upper lip? I was watching him on CNN and didn't see it. I know that is a silly thing, but I can't figure out if he really had one or I am just misremembering.

14. Removed in biopsy in 2004
Guess Elizabeth's cancer was enough of a warning. Have to remove the mole to do the biopsy. Reported that it was not cancerous.

3. No, you're thinking of the hamster that John Kerry's daughter had
During the campaign we learned he saved its life by giving it CPR.

John Edwards has a ferret though from what I hear.

No - not Edwards' mole, but naked mole rats.

6. I really like John Edwards. I don't hold it against him that he had the mole removed.
you would think if he were really vain he would have had it removed...ohhh...thirty years ago.

my husband had PRK in January because he's a deep diver, and he is SO happy he did it. He looks great without glasses. So if it's vain, I say bring it on baby! :hi:

16. Well, I had lasik surgery and could see, without any appliances, glasses,
contacts (that NEVER EVER fit comfortably, and I struggled with many kinds of those damned accursed things since age 11), perfectly. It was like a dream come true. I cried. The world had edges! SHARP ones! And I could see EVERY SINGLE ONE, barefaced! A miracle! I woulda done it a lot sooner if I could have. NO regrets whatsoever. It just was a miracle. The doctor who fixed my eyes said it was not at all uncommon for his patients to cry after the surgery. He said almost every last one of them did. YES, I'd recommend it. It sure did improve things for me! Just to be able to crane my neck up from the bed in the morning and see the clock across the room - even just that, or to be able to spot my kid across the parking lot, a miracle!!! I'd do it again in a heartbeat if I had it to do over.

18. sure, for vain people...
;)

i had LASEK - not "zap & flap", but more "peel & heal" - newer, more $$$$ procedure. it took about 40 minutes, but a week before i could look at print or a computer.

results: i have 20/15 in my dominant eye, 20/20 in the other, on purpose (built in presbyopia correction).

my summary is 'hell yes its worth it'. best thing i ever bought.

11. I saw the :sarcasm: icon so I'm not directing this so much at you
but I believe he had the mole removed during his wife's successful battle w/cancer. Being safe rather than sorry. After what their family went through during that time a little laser surgery seems insignificant.

10. Good god...
There are many reasons for having a mole removed that have nothing to do with vanity. Of course, I have no idea (nor do I care) why John Edwards had his removed, but a mole can be pre-cancerous, or simply in your way (with an upper lip mole, it can interfere with shaving).

I had a mole removed from my middle chest because my bra sat right on top of it, and it hurt.

Molegate: Wait for it.

19. Doctor's orders
(snip)

…Coincidentally, a few months earlier, in February 2004, doctors suggested that the distinctive mole on Edwards' upper lip might be developing cancerous properties; he had it removed, although it turned out to be benign.
