This is on top of that CNN page:

A car bomb killed at least 30 civilians in a market in the Shiite Iraqi town of Kufa, hours after Saddam Hussein's execution

7. No.
Little, if any, of the violence preceding his death had anything to do with him.

He was no longer in a position to significantly influence Iraqi political events.

Therefore, in my humble opinion, his death will not help bring stability to Iraq.

11. It surprises me that
28% actually think it will make a difference.

I guess it follows the maxim "Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer!"

13. Of course it will...
:sarcasm:

I saw that question posed on CNN and then the reader (not a reporter or journalist) said that there were numerous car bombings and up to 64 dead in Baghdad today. She appeared to think that was no big deal and that once sundown came, all the little birdies would sing with glee...no mention that it was a holy day today there...yunno...details, details...

So, nah, it's just another Happy Day in Quagmireville.

14. One of the executioners yelled "long live Muqtada al-Sadr,"
The irony of Saddam's execution is one to take to heart:

As a noose was tightened around Hussein's neck, one of the executioners yelled "long live Muqtada al-Sadr," Haddad said, referring to the powerful anti-American Shiite religious leader.

Hussein, a Sunni, uttered one last phrase before he died, saying "Muqtada al-Sadr" in a mocking tone, according to Haddad's account.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/12/30/hussein.funeral/index.html

In Saddam's execution the entire world can see how one American-created bloody regime gives way to another American-created bloody regime. Having Saddam executed by al-Sadr's death squads is a portend of what is to come to Iraq.
