Speaker-Designate Nancy Pelosi Statement on the death of Saddam
Washington DC Speaker-Designate Nancy Pelosi made the following statement on the execution of Saddam Hussein sent to me by Tom Manatos

"The execution of Saddam Hussein ends a tragic chapter in the history of Iraq, but it is not a substitute for an effective strategy that will bring peace to the region and allow the responsible redeployment of U.S. forces"

Site should be back up she moved into the Speaker Office this week

And yes the drapes will be changed. I just hope she sprayed for bugs

2. Pelosi, forgot about bringing peace to the region, get us out of Iraq
"responsible re-deployment", what does that mean? a slow process where years and years go by until, or a definite timetable where we are out in a year

I am tired of political speak, say what you mean!!!

5. That woman need to tidy up her english
Saddam was not "executed" he was hanged. It was the sentence of death that was executed and hanging was the means by which this was achieved. "Execute" means to carry something out.

10. Execute is a verb;execution is a noun.
Hanging, burning, beheading, shooting--they are all types of execution.

Pelosi was correct.

14. Well, let's just hope she's thinking more deeply than it sounds.
There's a rather tragic chapter about to blow in Iraq, Nancy. Are you paying attention?
