Which Republican candidates would make it easier for us to win?
Remember, they're going to have to pick a candidate as well, and we might be able to help that process along in our favor!

For example, a Republican dirty tricks operative lent assistance to Al Sharpton in 2004, knowing that he would act as a bull in a china shop around the other candidates:

My father, a Democrat, registered as a Republican in 1992 with the purpose of giving a primary vote to the less attractive Pat Buchanan. I don't think that particular tactic really applies in 2008 because they won't be running an incumbent as they had then and our primaries may be as undecided as theirs at that point, but we could certainly lend our hurrahs to someone we think can lead the primaries and then lose the general.

So, seriously, who do you think it could be?

1. Well, in the year 2000 I might have suggested a stupid fool who had failed in every business he
attempted; who had been noted for his drunkenness before he devoted his attentions to spitefully confirming the executions of 150 people as a state governor... somebody perhaps like George Bush?

And in 1975 I might have suggested that the British Tory Party should select a personally unpleasant character, who was well-known to be FAR too extreme for the usually-moderate British voters - and anyone who WAS that extreme surely wouldn't vote for a woman!!! Someone like Maggie Thatcher in fact?

It might sound attractive to try to get the opposition party to choose the worst possible person, so that they can then be defeated. But remember the old saying: "The trouble with political jokes is that sometimes they get elected".

2. Tommy Thompson, Tom DeLay, Lizard Dole, Eye of Newt...
There are a lot of them we should actually be pushing under a false flag over on FR.
