Edwards is saying Gore lost 2000 election
Edited on Tue Feb-10-04 03:36 PM by MIMStigator
Edwards said he should be nominated since no democrat has won a presidential election without 5 southern states. Which 5 did Al Gore win?

45. Gore DID lose
Even admitting that * cheated, lied, stole, whatever - * sits in the seat of power, lives in the White House, and sends the troops wheresoever he wills, and Gore does not.

Maybe we had a "moral victory", maybe Gore legtimately belongs in the White House, and maybe Bonnie Prince Charlie was king. But WE LOST. So why are we quibbling about this?? I have never understood what we are accomplishing by this except raising our blood pressure.

the thing to do is make sure the right guy wins in 2004, not whine about past injustices, even the 2000 election. But hey, that's just me. You guys have fun.

As I pointed out in a previous post, the electoral college elects the POTUS, and Sen. Edwards is absolutely, 100% correct in saying no Democrat has been elected as POTUS w/o winning at least 5 Southern states.

32. Gore lost, actually.
He may have won the popular vote in Florida, but it was never certified that he did, and Constitutionally speaking, he lost. And besides, if he had won five Southern states, he would be in the White House right now (and this forum wouldn't exist!). And he didn't, and so he's not.

40. Technically, he did
His legal strategy would not have led to a recount that would have handed him the election.

A state-wide recount would have given it to him.

Sad, but true. He lost on a technicality, but lost.

That doesn't make the behavior of the Bush Administration any less henious. I'm not crying in my tea cup. I'm banging it against the bars demanding my freedom from Bush.

he wants people to think they have to nominated him because nobody has won without 5 southern states but Gore won without 5 southern states.
If you say he's only saying they didn't get to be president WHAT'S HIS POINT?

he's using scalia theft to try to get nominated.
