3. Time for a sequel to "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy"
Edited on Thu Jan-18-07 08:07 PM by KamaAina
in which Will Ferrell is paired with -- Paula Zahn, as herself (though I'm not sure she has the dramatic range for the role :P )

edit: caps (not the ones on Paula's teeth :-) )

66. Brain? I wasn't sure she had one anymore.
A pretty face with nothing behind it.

Honestly, if she's as prominent on an international cable NEWS network and she can't keep the name straight - of one of the hottest political talents alive, WHAT THE FUCK is she doing taking up space as a news anchor????

People like her make me CRAZY!!! I cannot tell you HOW MANY of my friends, real, honest-to-God news reporters and anchors, who are SO much more deserving of a job and paycheck and exposure like hers, than she is. That job is SO wasted on this pathetic, aging, brainless twinkie. Honestly! BY NOW she still can't keep Obama's name straight? Hasn't she heard of him enough by now??? She's THAT brain-farted? THAT memory-challenged? Alzheimers setting in this soon? CRIMINY!!!

She is an utter disgrace!!! She should be ashamed of herself, embarrassing herself on camera like that - AND embarrassing her network. Paula! GO BACK TO POX!!! They're purveyers of your kind of "news".

9. Would be stupid crazy to run someone named Obama Hussein
we will never hear the end of these kind of attacks on him.

It would be almost like the GOP running someone named Adolf Hitler. I don't care how good you think the candidate is, you simply can not run someone named Adolf Hitler and expect to win. Get the point?

But beyond that, Obama shouldn't be running in 08 not only because of his name, but because he has no damn qualifications for the job.

I especially loved the one about not being able to defend Obama without resorting to personal attacks. How nostalgic. That was a favorite GOP talking point parroted over and over anytime anyone said anything negative about shrub. "I'd like to hear an argument against George Bush that doesn't involve name-calling against him" or something along those lines from the notes they took from Sean Hannity in '04.

It's leaving a lot to be desired. I'm not trying to insult you but seriously why are you discussing something as though you have anything to contribute when it is SOOOOO glaringly obvious that you are clueless about the topic. Come ON now. How stupid do you think we are? Where are you hanging out that all you've heard so far about Obama is "he has a nice smile" and "I like the sound of his voice." I've never EVER heard that as an argument for him. I could scan GDP and in like 15 minutes or less come up with buckets of links and information about his work experience, education, etc. I've read pages and pages and pages of information on his senate voting record and work experience today alone.

What in the world is your motive? I don't know a lot about quite a few senators but for Pete's sake I wouldn't join a discussion about them spewing negative things that I just pull out of my ass for no apparent reason and urging people not to vote for him. That's so ridiculous.

Good night.

57. You'll have to excuse me
Osama's DU supporters have been unnecessarily spiteful towards my favorite candidate and I only wish to return their favors. Furthermore, I just don't see this impacting the 2008 Presidential election one way or the other. Be realistic, his chances of winning the Presidential election are about equal to Ron Jeremie's chances of winning an Oscar for best actor.

58. You keep using this analogy in your posts
Edited on Fri Jan-19-07 08:17 AM by beaconess
I don't know what Ron Jeremie's chances are of winning an Oscar (who is he and why do you keep injecting him into your anti-Obama posts?) but I do know that Obama has as much chance of winning as anyone else in the race - and, in fact, he has a better shot than most.

Perhaps your upset is less about what DUers are saying about your favorite candidate (and I agree that the treatment of her here has been unnecessarily harsh), than the fact that Obama could pose a serious challenge to her. Regardless, returning spitefulness with spitefulness doesn't help your candidate here one bit.

61. It takes a lot of energy to think up new analogies.
As such, I like to make sure the old material is played out before I develop new stuff and, to be honest, I have ever only said it once before but it is nice to know you noticed. Not so nice that you didn't get it however. Here's a Ron Jeremy filmography to help you understand the gist of the pun: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000465/

"but I do know that Obama has as much chance of winning as anyone else in the race - and, in fact, he has a better shot than most."

Not really, He'll mobilize Republicans faster than...free tickets to a Cindi Sheehan ass kicking? Faster than a wet T-shirt contest at the family reunion?

"Perhaps your upset is less about what DUers are saying about your favorite candidate (and I agree that the treatment of her here has been unnecessarily harsh), than the fact that Obama could pose a serious challenge to her."
Realistically, he doesn't. Osama poses no threat to anybody in the election except the Democratic party if he actually gets the nomination(which is very unlikely... IMO of course). No, Osama's supporters have chosen the music to which we dance I'm afraid and I'm simply dancing to it (and loving it-it's all in fun).

"Regardless, returning spitefulness with spitefulness doesn't help your candidate here one bit."
Maybe, maybe not. I support Hillary because I like her and think she's the most qualified of our potential candidates; however, I understand that, because she's a woman, her chances of winning the Presidential election are about equal to...Dick Cheney's chances of winning a smiling contest? No? Equal toooo... George W. Bush's chances of winning a spelling bee? Ann Coulter's chances of being heterosexual? America's chances of winning in Iraq? Barrack Obama's.

It's a mistake like calling Barney Frank "Barney Fag" - it's a slip of the tongue that reveals far more than it's intended to.

I don't see experienced journalists making these kinds of mistakes on a regular basis. They manage to get other people's names right with seemingly little difficulty.

33. I've noticed that Chris Matthews calls him "Barack" and Clinton "Hillary"
I've always resented it, thinking that it was disrespectful to call these two U.S. Senators by their first names while he uses last names and sometimes titles for the others. I kind of understood why he did that with Sen. Clinton since it might be necessary to differentiate between her and her husband but I thought it was wrong to do it to Sen. Obama. But maybe that's why he does it.

Hmm.

With no comprehension of what the words MEAN, no ability to compare what they read with the facts - if the facts contradict the "news", then the facts must be ignored.

And, of course nothing can get in the way of a "good" story; even if the story is plainly false. If it's "good" enough then it's MADE to be true.

seem to care the least about the name thing. Most people appear not to be the least bit fazed or swayed by it. It obviously has not hurt him thus far in his political career and certainly doesn't seem to be holding down his popularity in the early stages of the presidential campaign.

But I guess they'll keep beating this dead horse until they wear themselves out.
