we the people foot the bill for the war and the occupation and Big Oil walks off with the spoils and the profits ... they've made record profits on this war and now they are about to "legally" steal Iraq's oil for the next thirty years ...

11. Translated into "Kissingerese"........
Edited on Sat Jan-20-07 11:51 AM by charles t

Kissinger: The "New" Iraq Strategy

"American forces ...... are in Iraq not as a favour to its government or as a reward for its conduct. They are there as an expression of the American national interest to prevent the Iranian combination of imperialism and fundamentalist ideology from dominating a region on which the energy supplies of the industrial democracies depend."

(Interesting that this language did not exactly make it into the Iraq War Resolution, or Colin Powell's speech to the United Nations, nor President Bush's address to the nation upon commencement of the invasion of Iraq.)

“We have no ambition in Iraq, except to remove a threat and restore control of that country to its own people. I know that the families of our military are praying that all those who serve will return safely and soon. Millions of Americans are praying with you for the safety of your loved ones and for the protection of the innocent. For your sacrifice, you have the gratitude and respect of the American people. And you can know that our forces will be coming home as soon as their work is done.

. . . . . President Bush's Address to the Nation, The Oval Office, March 19, 2003
