Howard Zinn.... All movements start small... |
|
During the Vietnam war, in 1965 there was a protest, only 100 people showed up... 4 years later there was another and 100,000 showed up..

4. Unfortunately, it only counts after the marches become violent. |

Riots seem to be the only thing that scares them into considering & making any significant policy shifts. I'm not advocating it, it's only an observation.

it was all ANSWER's fault...even though they have done more to organize against this hideous war than the pathetic Democrats. There was no three hour rant about Mumia and even if there were most people dont stand and listen to the speakers anyhow. So give it a rest. Also, on all of ANSWERs flyers and advertisements it is clear they are not a single issue group. If you still choose to attend their rally, that was your choice. The people here who bash ANSWER probably have never been to DC or anywhere to protest this war anyhow. Thanks for repeating FOX talking points though!:argh:

6. FOX TALKING POINTS???? |
|
Who the hell are you, the local ANSWER chapter head? I saw all three hours of the last big march in DC...or, actually, all three hours of CSPAN's coverage of the ANSWER free-Mumia rally. You're so wrong on virtually every count, I don't know where to begin...so I'll add another
Yeah...me, advancing FOX talking points. That's rich!

I have been to three protests in DC and what you are saying is completely untrue. Yup, Because I defend a group who is pushing progressive issues in Washington, I am their talking head! You got me pegged.:eyes:

and Zinn would also disagree with you since they are speaking at the rally in March! Try checking out their site! http://www.internationalanswer.org/

Any other assumptions you'd like to get wrong? You're batting a thousand.
And how do you get "Zinn disagrees with me" out of an ANSWER appearance in March? I didn't hear him endorse ANSWER on CSPAN last hour, he just said we need to march. Stop making stuff up to fit your pre-drawn conclusions. We've got a president who does that, too, and it's really annoying.

So, you can "peg" me with your ridiculous "Fox talking points" comment, but...I SAW all three hours of the television coverage of the "big" protest in DC we were originally talking about. You sound just like a friend of mine who was there, and swore I couldn't have seen any such thing because he never saw or heard ANSWER while he was there. Of course not...he was marching, not watching television. So he was feeling the adrenaline of the march going on around him, but that changes NOTHINGS about the television coverage. Which WAS all ANSWER and Mumia. 100%. The CSPAN cameras NEVER left the ANSWER stage to show the protest march. Not once in three hours. I watched all three hours of it. Like you, my friend insisted I must have been wrong...until he heard the same story from so many others. ANSWER co-opted the entire rally, they didn't organize it. I don't know of one single person who attended because of ANSWER, although I do know a few who attended in spite of them.
The original point has been entirely missed...a rally is just a bunch of people making noise UNLESS there is press coverage and some threat to the people being marched upon. In both cases the march(es) have been failures, because they got absolutely NO press coverage, and there was no consequence for anyone in Washington.
Oh, and... :eyes: to you, too.

Not only did I NOT prove your point, you didn't even bother to attempt to understand MINE. I was speaking of CSPAN's coverage of the rally. That was my entire point. I suggest you just stop now. You're running out of emoticons, and you're clearly not understanding anything I've written.
