1. Agreed.
Although that decision will reveal just how low Bush has sunk. Gonzales is an older friend and even more loyal to Bush than is Rove.

3. This is interesting from the NYT
White House turning on Gonzales? From the NYT:

appearance underscored what two Republicans close to the Bush administration described as a growing rift between the White House and the attorney general. Mr. Gonzales has long been a confidant of the president but has aroused the ire of lawmakers of both parties on several issues, including the administration’s domestic eavesdropping program.

The two Republicans, who spoke anonymously so they could share private conversations with senior White House officials, said top aides to Mr. Bush, including Fred F. Fielding, the new White House counsel, were concerned that the controversy had so damaged Mr. Gonzales’s credibility that he would be unable to advance the White House agenda on national security matters, including terrorism prosecutions.

“I really think there’s a serious estrangement between the White House and Alberto now,” one of the Republicans said.

is about to be tossed overboard. It's a way to prepare the RW true believers for the inevitable.

4. Excellent point
Gonzo's days are numbered. That article out today on the "rift" between Bush and the AG makes it clear the WH is trying to protect Bush by placing all the blame elsewhere.

20. Loyalty? Ha!
The word 'loyalty' to Bush is a one way street. He demands loyalty TO him, but has none for anyone else. He is the true narcissist. The world revolves around him. Anyone who attaches themselves to him is eventually ruined.

6. Yep, score another one for Rove, 0 for Gonzalez.
The little Mrs. might as well direct the servants to start packing now. So much to do, so little time. Whatever will she do?

8. Assuming one will go (and I doubt it), Gonzo stays, Turdblossom goes.
The Turd is critical for campaigning and establishing the base for policy. Gonzo is necessary to protect Bush.

See ya, Karl.

18. I think Rove has more to reveal than Gonzo
Rove's loose lips could sink Bush
AND

Rove may have a better chance of turning off the American people than Gonzo would. So they would be more willing to give up Gonzo.

9. Lets be honest
Bush has racial undertones. He keeps all his minorities in government to make him look good. But if it came down to Rove & Gonzales there is only one choice. That is Rove.

10. Rove is the heart of the evil.....co-equal with Cheney
He is the one who keeps them in "campaign mode" all of the time, with the PR assaults and the back door messages to the Faux Noise propaganda machine. Bush couldn't get his pants on right without Rove and Darth Cheney.

Gonzo is toast.

12. Since Karl runs things in the WH, Gonzo goes.
Which is fine. America needs a lawyer/advocate. Gonzales is not the guy. He is still WH counsel in what he does. And he fails at that too.

The bodies will keep dropping until Karl & Dead Eye Dick finally face off at high noon. Until then, surrogates pay for the sins of the junta.

14. Beginning of the end, which was, the beginning, 1969 -72
And I remember Martha making lots of phone calls, railing against the corruption.

When she died, there was a big funeral arrangement with a banner that read:
Martha was right

THAT was something!

16. Oh, yes! I had forgotten all about Martha...
She may have been tipsy, but she put on quite a show. Too bad we don't have a Martha around, today, but I think this administration is crumbling before our every eyes.

Thanks for the memories.

17. Tough call.
Turdblossom is a lot more turd than blossom after the midterms. But, he's probably got a lot of dirt on dumbya.

Dumbya probably has no need for gonzo anymore. Using him didn't prop up the Latino vote at all.

I'm thinking that he'll throw one under the bus & if it doesn't take then offer up the other one. Which one will go first? Hmmmm.

19. Keep up the pressure: Al Gontanamo's tenue will go the way of Harriet Miers Supreme Court nomination
Al loves Bush too much to subject him to too much negative attention - he'll resign if (when?) Bush starts sinking further in the polls (Bush is already close to Nixonville):
