8. So, is it so original? I mean, community action goes on all the time.....
Has it stopped Bushco???

It's a nice story...and frankly, doesn't sound much different from Edwards' message....but while community action may accomplish some local things, what happens nationally when a party like the Democratic Party fractures all the time and they can't get needed votes to stop Alito, or get Medicare Part D prices negotiated, etc. etc.??

9. Obama strikes me as one of the few political candidates with integrity.
He doesn't come across as politically calculating as Clinton or Edwards, and I like that. He seems pragmatic, straightforward, and sincere.

He's not as full of himself as some of the other candidates. He seems more real, like an everyday American.

4. Great article!
Love this part: After hearing concerns about drug dealing in the area, he set up his first community action meeting with a police commander in the basement of a neighborhood church. As a few older neighborhood residents trickled in, then dozens more, he was excited.

“They settled into their chairs, and I go over and thank them for coming. And they said, ‘When’s bingo start?’ ”

The police commander was also a no-show. It was a blow to his confidence, Obama said. But he refused to give up.

 Senator Obama has a great sense of humor!

6. Inspiring. To inspire someone looking at unemployment and give him a reason to get back up.
he is a phenom. As our Senator, he is very much supported because we know the man is real. We also like him because we adore his wife, Michelle!

7. Some are inclined to minimize the importance of Obama's community-level experience
Not here; that gave me an added comfort level about supporting him. He's a graduate of the school of hard knocks.
