Poll question: If Kerry rumors turn out to be true, and he winds up withdrawing...
...would you want Al Gore to reconsider and return to the race as a "unity" candidate?

17. Clinton said Gore was member of his admin who wanted to attack Iraq most
Gore is a many who proves his lack of conviction every time he opens his mouth.

What does this man believe in?

2. None of the above
I don't like the choices. I have nothing against Al, but a lot of people do. I'm a Clark Dem, still can't commit to one of the others.

8. Al Gore, when he came out and made his speech letting
people know he wasn't going to run, TOLD EVERYONE that he would endorse one of the primary candidates.

Do you not remember this? Did you have a problem with it then, or did you develop a problem with it when your favorite was not endorsed?

6. Of course I'd support the President!
If Gore were running, he'd be my number one choice. He has become the model Democrat-In 2002, crying out against Bush in every way imaginable, before *any* of these candidates did.

I'd support the re-election of the President in a heartbeat. :)

22. what about Dean
if Kerry drops out, I think dean can revive his campaign. What would happen to Kerry's delegates?

10. Bring on a real unity candidate
I'd bring on a real unity candidate.

My suggestion is Russ Feingold.

Gore is a good policy guy, but seems to have poor political judgement.

11. Redraft Clark!
I really don't think Kerry is going to have to withdraw over this, but the question did make me think. I like Edwards very much. I can't see him as the top of the ticket this time around, although I would vote for him if he was the nominee and and I'd probably vote for him in the primary if the choices were the same as in this poll. I still believe that Clark would catch on given a better chance. Gore...not now. Not at this time. He dropped out before he started and if he were ever going to drop back in he wouldn't have endorsed anyone.

14. Interesting ideas.
If Kerry does drop out, both Gore and Ms. Clinton may consider running.

Both of them would be able to grab a lot of new money. This next week will be very interesting.

21. I hope this Kerry story isn't true
I have been nervous about Kerry all along, outside of his war record
he has nothing positive to run on. When you allow yourself to be pictured with Ted Kennedy or Jane Fonda that is going to loose millions of votes alone. I think of all the candidates Clark would probably be the most electable among independent voters. Why do they have the primaries set up so we continually get a northeast liberal that is not electable?

15. If Kerry Weere To Be Forced Out
I honestly think we would see somebody who has not been in the race look to unify the party. The sad fact is though, I can't think of anyone with a big enough "name" other than Hillary. I question the electibility with her this year. I just don't know. Too bad Gary Hart got caught up in similar stuff.

16. Kerry is not withdrawing, even if this rumour is true.
What does an affair have to do with running this country? Jeez, we're not living in Saudi Arabia for goodness sake! I think there's some kind of desperate pipe dream going on amongst non-Kerry supporters.

18. I Love Al
and my support for him predates my support for Dean.

Dean might make a comeback if Kerry goes down, but he himself has been grievously wounded in the last month. Don't think the party leadership would go for it, but I think Al could be a godsend if it were worked out somehow. Since Al endorsed Dean, maybe he could be the VP candidate.

Just a thought. I would be very disappointed if neither Gore nor Dean has a chance to lead the country.

19. If Kerry drops out our chanaces of beating bush drop from 70/30 to
40/60 with Edwards or 0/100 with Dean.

Which is exactly why the GOP waited until Clark dropped out to drop the bomb on Kerry.
