Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK) on Friday:

Inhofe, speaking to the press before Cheney’s arrival, lambasted Democrats for Thursday’s Senate vote to begin withdrawal from Iraq by Oct. 1 and the press for “mischaracterizing” the reasons for U.S. involvement.

“The whole idea of weapons of mass destruction was never the issue, yet they keep trying to bring this up,” Inhofe said. (…)

Pressed for an explanation, Inhofe said weapons of mass destruction were “incidental” to the decision to invade Iraq.

“The media made that the issue because they knew Saddam Hussein had used weapons of mass destruction.”

I was going to write a long response detailing how much of a fucking idiot Inhofe is, how without the WMD prevarication there would have been absolutely no reason to even look at Iraq, and how this is another in a long list of Repuke revisions about this whole botched invasion... but I my mind has been completely boggled at the utter stupidity of this man and the sheep that will undoubtedly believe him.

The media was complicit in amplifying the WMD claims, as could be seen in Moyers' show, but the claims came from Cheney, Bush et al and to my knowledge, Cheney is not part of the media.
