Charlie Rangel is asking me for money. (for him)

Some history on this. Sharpton is pissed at Rangel and he is pushing this Powell guy against Rangel in the NY primary. It's bullshit manipulation by Sharpton. Enjoy...

Dear Bleachers7,

I want to thank you for your support of General Clark in his quest for the Presidency.
As the ranking Democrat on the House Ways and Means Committee and a veteran of the Korean War, I was thrilled to campaign with the General and Gert in New York, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and around the country.

I am proud that we've shown the world that this great patriot, war hero, and four-star general is a DEMOCRAT with the guts to say that the current president has mishandled the war on terror and the war in Iraq while drastically neglecting our domestic needs for his own political gain.

Although we may not have gotten the nomination, I'm very proud to have supported the general, and you should be too: I'm absolutely certain that General Clark's campaign has made it much more likely that we will DEFEAT GEORGE W. BUSH ON NOVEMBER 2!

A strong, UNITED Democratic message is emerging from the Presidential primaries. While the President wastes hundreds of billions of dollars on tax cuts for those who need them least, we are focused on reviving the economy, creating jobs for the nine million unemployed, preserving Social Security and Medicare, and securing healthcare for all.

The march to victory in November will go on, there will be many battles along the way, and the country's depending on all of us to keep up the fight, whatever the cost. In my case, the New York newspapers are reporting that my support for General Clark is fueling a well-financed challenge against me by Adam Clayton Powell IV. Yet I don't for one second regret my support of the General.
General Clark, you and I all share a commitment to make our nation a land of hope and opportunity for all Americans. I deeply appreciate everything you've done, and want to do everything in my power to encourage you to continue the fight for our future.

Please take a moment to visit my campaign website, www.charlierangel.org and look at some the issues that I've been working on. I'd love to hear from you.

Thank you again for everything you've done for General Clark and please stay in touch.

1. I hope he sends me an email
I'd be proud to help Charlie Rangel out -- he was a strong, steadfast Wes Clark supporter and promoter. He's a helluva congressman in his own right. Go Charlie!

2. Sharpton is getting far too power hungry. Thanks for the Rangel link.
I'll kick this overnight.

4. I got the same email
and to be fair, he didn't actually ask for money, he just hinted that he was going to need it for the upcoming campaign. I haven't checked out his site yet but I may very well donate to him in the near future just to thank him for his loyalty to General Clark.

5. I have never supported Clark--but have admired Rangel for years

But politics are politics, that's how the game is played. Though it is distasteful when it is a Reverend playing the political revenge game--particularly when Charlie has done much for our country. Though he should probably be retiring soon anyway.

Rangel's endorsement was a very honorable one for Clark to have gotten. And caused me to go to the pro-Clark websites and read the pros for Clark. In the end, I just could not get over his voting for Reagan, Nixon and Bush 1 (all men I protested in the streets against.)And when I decided I could even forgive those major intellectual mistakes from his past and vote for him--I still would have needed to hear Clark repudiate SOA/WHISC.

I do feel for Clark supporters and actually felt depressed when he dropped out (I'm not sure why, but it bothered me). I consider him to be a brilliant man--but it did not come across on the stump.

And though I was anti-Clark I am still furious at some DUers who went along with the right-wing lies that impinged on Clark's sanity. He is obviously a sane bright man. One last bit of silliness. I did hate when some of you Clarkies went on about his looks. I found him to be quite physically unattractive and would cringe when reading the MTV like breathy posts praising his "hotness." (Same for any candidate.)

8. Guess it went out to all of Clark's supporters
I got one, and I am definitely not in New York. :)

Actually I am of modest means and will not be throwing out any huge sums to the D party or Rangel at this point. The money I sent to Clark was already pushing it.

9. Got it too
Think everyone who donated to Clark did as well.

I'll probably kick in a few bucks. I used to live in his district in NYC. And as an (ex) New Yorker, the hell if I'm gonna let the ranking member of Ways and Means go down in defeat.
