Resend the bill with requirement for balanced budget
Let the president decide on what taxes to raise to fully fund this war that he believes is so essential. He is starting the 5th year of "stay the course, steal Iraq's oil", so if the security of Iraq's oilfields are that important to the American people, then HE, President Bush, must tax the citizens sufficiently to cover the cost of maintaining a foreign occupation.

1. Not only taxes but worded carefully they will need to add additional
new troops...because the current troops cannot serve 5, 6, 7 or 8 tours to sustain his war. They need to pose the requirement that he come up with a way to increase the troop levels......no more extending tours of duty, abusing the Reserves etc...

Welcome to DU!

2. Yes, and make him lead for once in his life.
If Congress feels bound to keep the troops funded after having the Supplemental vetoed, then they are taking a hard slap in the jaws from the president. Therefore, at the very least, Congress needs the president to protect the health of the troops and protect the health of the economy. Bush needs to agree to take a political hit in return. He needs to agree to fully fund this war with new taxation. He must bear the political heat since he rebuked the Congress when they tried to compromise.

4. I think Congress needs to ratchet up the pressure
Make * veto the damn thing 8-10 times until *everybody* finally realizes he's completely mental.
