Biden's Numbers???
Quick question...

Does anyone know if Biden's numbers have gone up since the debates?

1. I think they have made it up to the solid single digits.

2. Well a quick look at the state polls that came out today...
ARG...has Biden jumping from 2% to 6% in Iowa

And 2% to 3% in SC

No change in NH

Not sure when this poll was taken, but it was released today

10. Thanks for that info. No real movement in NH but a bump in other
places.

I think Biden is going to be heading up generally. Not sure how far he'll get, but he's a strong voice on the Middle East -- well, on foreign policy altogether.

Joe's a bright guy - I'd like to see him in a Cabinet level position for the DEM admin in 08.

Though he will never be President, IMHO.

19. Nobody watched the debates - at least not enough to affect polls
but the fundraising is a different story. I wouldn't write him off so fast, RiverStone. You may be right in the end, but he's a player and could become an even bigger player if he can raise the cash after more impressive debate performances, etc.

16. ARG is a crock
ARG is universally viewed as a bogus outfit by people involved in New Hampshire politics. He has no boiler room, and no one has ever received a call from the firm. Basically, Dick Bennet waits for Zogby to release a poll, then fiddles with the numbers to come up with something that will gain him media attention. The guy's a flake.

3. I havent heard any very recent ones, but before the debate and his
recent appearances on TV, they were still in the low single digits.

I think this is awful! Joe is really one of the most knowlegeble, experienced candites we have!

I really like Joe, and have always thought he would be the best Dem candidate. Maybe things will look much better next week.

I'm really tired of Dem candidates who, like Kerry, are too politically corect, too controlled by their consultants, and just don't look like REAL PEOPLE on the TV!

Joe isn't like that at all!

Yes, he sticks his foot in his mouth once in a while, but he sure sounds like the real thing to me!

4. I Completely Agree
Edited on Tue May-01-07 11:05 PM by Steely_Dan
I remember bringing up Biden's name about three months ago. I was immediately told that he was a crook and in the pockets of the banks, etc. etc. It was like...don't bring his name up unless you want to hear about all his faults and how terrible he is.

There is little doubt about his knowledge and his ability to inspire thought. Okay, so he sticks his foot in his mouth. You know what...I kinda like that about him. We need someone that isn't so damned careful about what they say. Everyone else seems so controlled. It seems like they don't want to say anything unless its been approved by their campaign staff. This is not a time for being so cautious that you don't take a stand on anything. Too many times we have heard "politicians" trying to play both sides of the fence...those who take the middle of the road only get run over. Take a stand and stick to it.

Joe is not perfect. But he possesses the kind of passion that I believe we need right now.

There is a long way to go before this is decided. I wouldn't be surprised to see Biden in the thick of it a few months from now.

5. No mention of the bankruptcy "reform" bill?
That's one of the main reasons a lot of us don't respect MBNA Joe. I was also thoroughly disgusted with his antics in the confirmation hearings for Condasleazebag Rice for Sec'y of State, in which he was far more interested in quizzing her on the performance of his alma mater's football team than in her questionable qualifications and appalling track record.

And it's not just that he keeps saying really stupid stuff. It's that he looks so damn pleased with himself when he says it.

In short, those of y'all who love Joementum Lite can keep him.

6. I think you are referring to when Biden wore a Princeton hat
during the Alito hearings. He wore it because Alito was a member of
a conservative group while going to Princeton. Alito's group discriminated against women and was against affirmative action.
Biden was making a statement as he was strongly opposed to Alito. Kennedy and even Graham brought up Alito's association with this group as well. In fact Kennedy wanted to subpoeana Princeton for their records on Alito in this club. Here's a link if you want to refresh your memory.
http://www.dailyprincetonian.com/archives/2006/01/11/news/14221.shtml

During Condoleeza's hearings, Biden thoroughly questioned her. He did not talk to her about her alma matter.

About the bankruptcy bill - you're right. I don't like that he voted for it, but I understand why.

9. at this point i don't have a favorite and i don't have a least favorite
they all have really good points, and some negative ones as well

i'm trying to stay open-minded -- and that includes w/biden.

and what i said before isn't true (i don't think of him every time i look at the interest on my credit card bill. but i do think of him sometimes when i look at it--and it's not little happy thoughts)

12. The fact that you carry a balance on your CC bill is not Biden's fault.
If you didn't carry a balance over to the next month, the interest wouldn't be there, huh?

As to the bankruptcy bill, there's only one thing I disagree with. There's no exception for debts caused by unforseen medical expenses. Beyond that, I've seen way too many declare bankruptcy that shouldn't have been allowed to do so. People who start a business, it isn't successful, and I've personally heard them talking outside the court room saying "It's no big deal. In a couple of months, I'll start another one...I already have the idea. If it doesn't work out, I'll just do this again!" A neighbor of mine who bought a house he couldn't afford, maxed out 5 credit cards buying a LOT of top of the line stuff he couldn't afford and didn't use, just filed bankruptcy 2 months ago. He's all kind of pi**ed because they won't just wipe out his debt and he has to go on a payment plan!

I'm actually hoping the Dems can revisit the bankruptcy bill and revise it to include unforeseen medical debts.

Sorry, but I can't hold this decision against Biden!

22. hahahahahahaha
"If you didn't carry a balance over to the next month, the interest wouldn't be there, huh?'

no shit! those were the good old days--where i could actually pay the balance off every month.

ah yes, the economy--at least for me--is booming so well it's blowing up all around me.

the story about your neighbor reminds me about 12 years ago i was having trouble paying on a credit card. i would call the company (i forget which one, but it doesn't matter) and tell them i was going to make small payments because it was all i could do at the time. the people i talked to were always telling me to file bankruptcy because they write off a certain amount of losses every year. and i would tell them i didn't want to file bankruptcy--i wasn't going to (and i didn't) but the credit card employees tried to get me to do that.

times certainly have changed.

14. Those ALito hearing were not a Biden positive
Biden and Kennedy really did a very poor job at them. Issues like Signing statements and unitary President and decisions that always favored the powerful over powerless were not discussed half as much as the irrelevent Princeton issue. His 26 minute monologue was met by howls of pain in live blogs here.

11. Biden is ok!
Biden is growing in stature in my eyes. I have always liked Biden's character, the way in which I can see him as an attack dog.
However, he comes from a small state and has a long voting record which can be used against him. Plus the GOP will have a field day with Obama/Biden '08 as a combo. But Biden is just the kind of experienced guy who could help Obama.
After the debates I think Biden has impressed many people. Obama was weakened and Clinton is still the front runner in my opinion.
Biden should be made Secretary of State.

Most polling hasn't taken place post-debate.

Rasmussen publishes on Mondays I think for Dem nationals.

The only people debate performances mean anything to are the people with the $$$$$. Biden was great in that debate AND on MTP last Sunday. I am betting his fundraising has been MUCH better this week.

edit to add about fundraising this week.
