I don't understand why Pelosi wants to "find common ground with Bush"
CNN quoted her as saying that Democratic leaders want to find common ground with Bush over the war, etc, but there is still too much open space between them right now.

Why would anyone want to find common ground with a proven madman and serial murderer? You just can't compromise with someone like Bush. We shouldn't be willing to give an inch to this crazy bastard.

I think Pelosi's rhetoric stinks. The way she frames things, one would think we've already given up before we've even gotten started. Sorry, Nancy, but half way is not good enough.

Someone better inform Ms Pelosi that we want lobster, not chicken. I'm sick of chicken.

1. Uh for the good of the nation?
I mean granted this is rhetoric we're talking about here but isn't that the obvious political answer...?

8. No, it shouldn't be the obvious political answer. We'll only be perceived as weak again
Bush is the ONLY one who should be caving in, and he should be the only one squirming to find common ground with US. Pelosi needs to re-frame her rhetoric and speak more from a position of strength. There is no room for compromise when it comes to peoples' lives.

30. You harshly judge every other Dem on that while the Clintons triangulate more than anyone
and you attack anyone who points that out.

That is QUITE the DISCONNECT.

31. That is as much a fabrication as all the fabrications you invent about the Clintons
If anyone is guilty of attacking other posters it's YOU. You are the one who attacks me all the time and I don't attack you. The only thing I ever attacked was your posts, the propaganda you drop like confetti in your effort to get everyone to think the Clintons are criminals.

I've never seen anyone whine more about getting attacked as you. If you're going to say I attacked you, then I'd really appreciate it if you also showed me exactly where and when. Thank you!

I wish my problems with the Clintons were mere fabrications, then this whle Bush2 regime since 2000 will have been only a nightmare.

6. There is NO common ground with that Asshole on the war or anything else.
Bullshit, the Dems MUST stand firm. No compromise on getting the troops home. PERIOD. Bush and his bullshit about legislators should not get in the place of generals? Pretty ironic coming from the asshole who thinks that it is OK for legislators to put their opinions in the place of medical doctors.

Put his smirking face all over mainstream teevee during this search for common ground because it will only help the '08 results.

10. She's giving the idiot more rope with which to hang himself.
She's being reasonable, he's not, and everyone is seeing that. We are, the American people who voted her Speaker are, and more importantly republicans who will be up for re-election next year are.

Every day that goes by with the idiot behaving like a child, more republicans are looking at next year's vote and saying to themselves: "I can't associate myself with him or his policies one more day, or I'll be out of office soon."

The only way she and Reid could get this legislation passed was to be reasonable. It's politics and they are winning.

Just my opinion.

11. Well....
There's public statements and private statements.
Even the Repukes keep publicly saying support the war, support Bush Inc.
Behind closed doors, those same Repukes hate Bush and see their party dying.

If the Dems have larger majorities, they can do more.
Rhetoric aside, hang in there.
Now go register people to vote Democratic.

13. No, no, they caved, they caved!
Why introduce those unpleasant facts when someone wants to beat up on the Democratic leadership for making diplomatic statements for public consumption? It should be attack, attack, attack all the time! There's not enough bitterness and rancor in our public discourse, and any failure to ratchet up the hostility is a failure of spine, nerve, cojones or whatever other body part you care to name.

Golly, it's sooooo obvious.

Stop playing in fantasy land - he's still the President and you still have to work with him and afford him the respect of the office of the Presidency. Period.

Politics? If so then I don't want to understand that kind of politics. I've had enough of that kind of politics because it has now compromised our Democracy. It is time to go beyond politics to morality.
