Hate Crimes Bill Needs Your Help
Tomorrow, May 3rd, The U.S. House of Representatives will vote on a landmark federal law (HR1592) that will expand the definition of hate crimes to include attacks against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender citizens.

We expect the vote to be very close. The extreme right knows this and is making an all-out effort to bombard our lawmakers with lies about what this bill does.

Don't let the far-right speak for you.

Take a moment to fax your Representative and let them know you want them to vote yes for this important bill. Let your U.S. Representative know that you want the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act (HR1592) to pass. Tell me more: http://prideatwork.org/page.php?id=5

Send a letter to the following decision maker(s):
Your Congressperson

Below is the sample letter:

Subject: Please Support The Hate Crimes Bill!

Dear ,

For far too long, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people have been victims of terrible crimes, just because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

I implore you to vote for a landmark federal law (HR1592) that will expand the definition of hate crimes to include attacks against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender citizens.

This bill is essential in making sure that crimes against all people, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity, be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Please vote in favor of HR1592.

Sincerely,

1. I am against hate crime laws in principle but as long as they do exist...
...there is absolutely no excuse for not including GLBT.
