I just love starting my morning cracking up at a rightwing hack! Today's Washington Post has Broder and Novak too, but this one's priceless. It's called "The Road to a GOP House." Yup -- he's rallying the wingnuts with rationalizations about how they can win back the house. I'm not saying they can't, but it strikes me as an odd effort at optimism this far ahead, while the GOP continues daily to show themselves for the corrupt, incompetent asswipes they are.
Anyway, his brilliant analysis includes:
...61 Democrats represent districts that George W. Bush carried in 2004. A 16-seat gain in 2008 would restore Republican control to the House.
I'm surprised they aren't popping the champagne corks right NOW!
...(A)fter Republicans lost 48 House seats in 1958, they gained 21 seats in 1960, when John Kennedy was narrowly elected president.
Well cancel tonight's debates -- with gains like that, the GOP don't need no stinkin' presidency!
And if Republicans do not win control of the House in 2008 and a Democrat is elected president, they have a really excellent chance of capturing the House in 2010, because the party that wins the presidency usually loses House seats in the next midterm election.
I'll bet the thought of winning the House in 2010 put a grin on many a Republican face this morning, huh?
