Bartlet's approval is at 49% and for that reason the Repuke Congress is beating him senseless.
Back here in real life, the stupid drunk in the Wh has a 30% approval rating and is up to his gin-blossomed neck in felonious business, and gets whatever he wants.
Why does the Dem Congress not stand up to Smirk?

the other is Reality, and the Dems, I think, are beating * up in a very clever, anti-Rethuglican way (meaning they're not obnoxious bullies): investigations that cast light on malfeasance, a steady stream of bad news after bad news, and painting him into untenable corners eg. the Iraq Funding Bill. Pelosi ain't Gingrich, thank God, but the damage to * is the same, if not more catastrophic in the end.
