I propose a new strategy for 2008: The Posthumous Impeachment of Ronald Reagan
For High Crimes and Misdemeanors related to Iran-Contra and other scandals.

Judging from last night's Repuke Debate, our Democratic candidate will be running against Reagan's Ghost in 2008.

So, I say...

Let's Posthumously Impeach Ronald Reagan.

11. Believe it - the rehabbing of Poppy Bush is going on now, and the Dictatortot
will become St. George within 10 years from now, if the books are kept closed on the all of BushInc.

The ONLY solution: Elect REAL anti-corruption, open government Democrats and stop supporting those who willingly protect secrecy and privilege.

4. Since the only punishment for impeachment and convcition is removal from office
and disqualification from same, the impeachment of Ronald Reagan is a moot point.

Unless the "trial" was just a forensics debate type of thing.

7. Exactly - someone should set up a moot court.

Lets get a body of 435 representatives here on the DU. We will call it the DU House of Representatives. We will select the handlers from those in the body who apply for the job - about 10 handlers to bring forward the case. In the application for handler we should encourage the applicants to reveal the ways in which they are morally, legally or sexually comprised in order to pick the best hypocrites. The whole body will vote on the articles of impeachment. If it passes we will send it to the Senate for trial.

The Senate will consist of 100 mature DUers (such as myself) and we will hear the evidence of impeachment - perhaps by video conference. Better yet, all 100 DU Senators should travel to a Holiday Inn Express in D.C. to hear the testimony.

The Chief Justice should be Skinner.

If we vote to impeach then we will petition all governmental entities to remove Reagan's name from their streets, buildings, airports, etc.

guide us with the law. If it's only for Iran-Contra I would be happy.

Its success and non-accountability gave the current jerks the arrogance that we're now suffering under.

And like Bush, we know that Ronnie did not create Iran-Contra himself. He did agree to be used as a saint in the minds of the same people who have now sainted George.

Brilliant - Please let the idea take off and catch on - with a concrete impeachment as the finished product.

8. We should use Catherine Crier to brief us.
She lost her job last week and she is a Dem.

See my post above for further details.

6. Original Debt Clock of 1989
Reagan's Debt. Switched off in 2000 because it couldn't run backward. Switched back on in 2002.

Nixon's ahead of him in line.

And let's not forget Hoover and Warren G. Harding.
