GOP starts to chart its post-Bush course (CNN)

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Underlying all the questions about abortion, taxes and war during Thursday night's GOP debate was a simple question: What's next for the Republican Party? The answer is not so easy.

It wasn't just the first Republican debate of the '08 cycle. It was the first event of the post-Bush era -- the first time the 10 Republican candidates had a chance to show where the party goes from here.

For some, it's a strong yearning for the party's heyday.

"I think it's import to remember that what Ronald Reagan did was to give us a vision for this country, a 'morning in America,' a 'city on a hill,' " said former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

"We forget to be coming up with new ideas, big ideas, like Ronald Reagan," echoed Tommy Thompson, former Wisconsin governor.

1. If they haven't come up with any ideas by now.....
I guess they haven't done enough polling to determine what they can get ahead of...

But to be fair to our freinds across the aisle, I haven't been that impressed with any of the democrats visions thing either...

Programs, yes very impressive, but a vision to excite people, give people hope for a better future, not so much....

2. Ideas they have
good, bad, or indifferent, they have the ideas.

It's in the delivery that they royally suck.

If Dumya had done at least one of the things he promissed when he was a candidate, he might have been a decent president.

But with pugs it's all mouth and no ass.

4. Reagan left office almost 20 years ago and was ineffective for at least the last four.
They're way overdue for some ideas but I don't think they're going to develop any.

6. None of this bunch.
They're all tainted. The new Republican leadership is still in school. It will consist of people who can honestly claim they had nothing to do with this attempt to hijack the constitution and trash the country.

7. Their actual course will remain the same - serve the interests of the haves and have-mores.
All the rest is just window dressing to fool the gullible among us to vote against their interests.
