Because I know if we were traveling together and my car tumbled off the side of a mountain... he'd risk his own life, grab a rope and repel down the side of the mountain to try and save me.
He did do that for his friend. Shows the kind of person he truly is.

One sweet moment occurred when he introduced her during a speech as "the love of my life and wife of 26 years" but someone was distracting her at that moment. When she got free, she touched her forefinger to her lips and then touched his sleeve, then stepped back as he continued to address the crowd. It is really moving to see people who seem to be so smart, so dedicated to the right things in life, and so deeply caring of one another after all these years.

8. What I look for in a friend |
|
Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 09:31 AM by Minstrel Boy
I see in Kucinich.
An amiable guy with integrity who shares many of my values, who would likely be there for a buddy.
Dean seems like a decent, genuine person, but he's someone I could get excited about working for, not hanging out with.
If Kerry, Edwards or Clark were my friend, I can't imagine what kind of person that would make me. I'm not saying they're bad people, just that such people don't seem real to me. If they were to be my friends, they'd have to be imaginary friends.

(Plus he's handy...when I found out what he does to relax I told my husband we NEED him as a friend).

But he doesn't do caffine either...how about a ginger ale..hear he likes that stuff.
At one event (a morning event) As the Governor sat down to a bowl of cereal (an my husband was eating a doughnut) He said to the Governor "We have nothing in common...I smoke, drink coffe and eat all that is bad for me, you on the other hand are all about being healthy." The Governor said, "doesn't matter, just take care of yourself." What a guy!!
Wait a second....Rush...is that you???

Couldn't really do that with the other candidates except Braun, Kucinich and Sharpton. The rest were pretty quiet when it came to attacking Bush when it counted.

Most definately. Besides being easy on the eyes - the man is funny as hell. You only have to talk to him privately for a few minutes to see he's just like one of us: thinks Bush is a dolt and a creep. He also makes some pretty good funnies about the lot of us wanting to get drunk on his front lawn - but that's a story for another time. ;)

29. I'd like Kucinich as a friend, and Dr. Dean as my neighbor |
|
I think Dennis would be most engaging in the realm of idealism and talks of a brighter future, trying to turn this upside-down world right side up.
On the other hand, Dr. Dean reminds me of the kind of guy who steps out in the early morning to retrieve his paper, gives me a big wave and a wonderful smile and says, "Hey, how you doing?" And maybe he'll come over to the fence and we'll chat for a while, very pleasant.
I don't want Al as a friend after what he did to Dr. Dean per suggestion of Roger Stone. Same goes for John Kerry and the Torticelli connection. I have to be able to trust my friends.

I wouldn't vote for Joe in a primary, but he has proven he is a man of integrity and stands by his word. He, in fact, did wait for Gore to announce his decision before he announced -- just like he said he would. I'll take that kind of friend any day. Joe is just a good guy.

Who wouldn't want a friend who LOVES Cheetos, Chocolate covered gummy bears and Samuael Adams beer???! He likes Bob Dylan and rock and roll, he's probably one of the most intelligent people on this earth and he's a kind, nice, and warmhearted soul. What's not to like? Other than a Kerry endorsement. :(

40. For a *real* friend, it would have to be Dennis |
|
He knows how to listen, and can zero in on one person. He obviously has lots of compassion, and doesn't judge others. I would feel comfortable telling him things that are bothering me that I don't feel safe telling others. *That* is what a real friend does.
For a more superficial friend, more of an acquaintance, I would enjoy a good conversation with Clark, and maybe Dean. But, then, I'd also enjoy a conversation with Dennis, too. That man has a lot of knowledge about such a wide range of topics. With all he does, I don't know where he finds the time to keep so well informed. :)
Kanary, who *wishes* she was lucky enough to have a friend like Dennis!
