Obama fairs best head to head and top GOP candidates
While the poll has some high marks for Clinton, it’s not all good news. Though the New York senator and former first lady aims to project an aura of inevitability that she will win the Democratic nomination, Obama beats the leading Republicans by larger margins than any other Democrat: besting Giuliani 50 to 43 percent, among registered voters; beating McCain 52 to 39 percent, and defeating Romney 58 percent to 29 percent.

1. Hillary is far behind both Edwards and Obama in the polls against Repukes.

Edwards has momentum in the primary. Maybe big media pay half the attention to Edwards as they have been for Obama now:
Where Clinton remains the undisputed champ is among Democrats. When matched against her main rivals for the Democratic nomination, Clinton is the choice of 51 percent of Democratic and Democratic-leaning voters over Obama’s 39 percent; and she defeats Edwards 57 percent to 38 percent. Obama has not substantially narrowed Clinton’s lead since the early March NEWSWEEK poll, where he trailed Clinton by 14 points. Edwards has narrowed Clinton’s lead over him though. Back in March Edwards trailed Clinton by 31 points; now her lead is down to 19 points.

2. I have a hunch that
Obama and Edwards will remain the lead candidates and go down to the wire. An Edwards/Obama ticket would not surprise me and would probably be a good one. I don't dislike Hillary but I can't see her pulling this off in the end. Four weeks ago I would not have thought this. It is still very early so I reserve my right to flip flop on my hunches.

3. Clinton, despite her $ and name recognition, usually underperforms Obama and Edwards
in general election polls. Primary polls are unfortunately another issue.

I posted a bunch of few recent polls that back this up...

5. I'm leaning toward Obama, but I'm getting pretty tired of reading about polls.
Once it was established that this is an open race, I want to hear and see the candidates, not hear and see their ratings!
