Kerry Interngate: Some Questions |
|
If the Kerry intern story is proven correct by the media over the next few days, two questions emerge:
1) How is Kerry going to recover from his present image as an anti-gay conservative Democrat who favours only civil unions? His whole position is predicated on the "sanctity of marriage." If Kerry doesn't value the sanctity of his own marriage, how can he judge gay people on the basis of the same?
2) How is Kerry planning to appeal to social conservatives, now that he's turning his back on social progressives to court Bush's base on social issues? It's unlikely Bush's people will vote for a Democrat (even one who has anti-gay positions). With an explosive investigation proving a relationship with an intern, it will be doubly-impossible to get their votes.
If the Kerry story is true, he should drop out of the race immediately for the good of the party and the need to defeat Bush. This is too much baggage for a candidate to carry, and it will be impossible for Kerry to win the presidency as "damaged goods" whose own conservative social positions are blown out of the water by dalliances.

How did John Kerry become an "anti-gay conservative"?
He was one of only fourteen senators to vote against the Defense Of Marriage Act...
Kerry's pro choice , pro gay rights, anti censorship....
Only in a parallel universe could Kerry reasonably be called a "social conservative"....

4. I agree. If it's true & it's ugly he has to drop out. |

I hope to god it's not true though. Kerry was never my fav in this race, but if this thing is true he has greatly harmed the party.
If it's true he should have divulged it himself and it may have went away. If it's true and he continued to ride the momentum wave, knowing what was lurking in the closet... he owes all of us an apology. Most especially his fellow running mates.
If it's true I will work my ass off to get Clark back in this race. We start over.
I still find it very strange that all this breaks ONE day after Wes gets out of the race.
Nobody will ever convince me that Wes wasn't the Pukes greatest fear!

5. Allegedly, Clark broke this story. . . |
|
. . . I am with-holding judgment until the truth become clearer re: the Kerry allegations, though if the allegations prove true, Kerry REALLY earns my contempt. He'd be running a campaign touting anti-gay constitutional amendments and blathering about the "sanctity of marriage," when he didn't hold his own marriage to be full of "sanctity." :puke:
I hope Clark stands up in this process and continues to provide an alternative perspective -- we need it in this party now more than ever.

6. The pukes have us all chasing our tails over this. |

It smells of Rove to me.
Let's wait and see. In the meantime, let's keep hitting them hard with their own innumerable scandals: Iraq, AWOL, Plame, stealing dems memos, etc. etc. etc.....

7. John Kerry Was Pro Gay Rights Before Being Pro Gay Rights Was Cool.. |

You conveniently ignore the fact that Kerry was one of only fourteen senators to (((((vote against))))) DOMA....
As far as gay marriages I am 100% in favor of them but it needs to be finessed as a political issue...
You can be the most progressive candidate in the race like Kucinich but it doesn't mean shit if you can't get a plurality or majority of the electorate to see things your way...
As far as allegations of infidelity I need alot more information than what Fudge and Oxyrush are giving me....
Peace

9. the issue can not be finessed once there is an ammendment against it |
|
Dean's position can be finessed because he is not in favor of an ammendment banning gay marriage. Kerry has said he would be in favor of such an ammendment if civil unions were part of the ammendment. Once that is done, permanent 2nd class citizenship for Gay people is written into the constitution.

8. Clark DID break this... |
|
he told it to reporters "off the record"...
the quote was: "Kerry won't be the nominee...He has an intern problem." or something like that..
Clark did this on purpose...He had to. Such a smart man oughtta know that when you are running for president and dishing dirt on another guy running for president, NOTHING will be off the record. This was deliberate...Maybe he was just pissed off about his loss and subconsciously said it for payback..

I think it was when he was going to stay in the race and was hoping to damage Kerry. If he said it, I would guess that he now feels guilty and has been threatened by the party and also bribed by promises of some post or other. If he did say it then I think he can forget VP or any major appointment in a Kerry whitehouse.

1. If you start a thread in this forum, you must present your opinion in a manner that is not inflammatory, which respects differences in opinion, and which is likely to lead to respectful discussion rather than flaming. The moderators have the sole authority to decide whether a thread topic is inflammatory. Extremely inflammatory or inappropriate topics will be deleted rather than locked, and the thread's author will receive a warning.
8. If you make a highly questionable and inflammatory factual assertion about a candidate, you must provide a link to a reputable source to back up your claim. Rumor-mongering is not allowed. Allegedly "innocent" questions which are actually an underhanded effort to spread rumors are not allowed. If you really need to know the answer to your question, try Google.
