SAME Newsweek poll: Clinton remains the undisputed champ among Democrats.
Edited on Mon May-07-07 10:22 AM by wyldwolf
Where Clinton remains the undisputed champ is among Democrats. When matched against her main rivals for the Democratic nomination, Clinton is the choice of 51 percent of Democratic and Democratic-leaning voters over Obama’s 39 percent; and she defeats Edwards 57 percent to 38 percent. Obama has not substantially narrowed Clinton’s lead since the early March NEWSWEEK poll, where he trailed Clinton by 14 points. Edwards has narrowed Clinton’s lead over him though. Back in March Edwards trailed Clinton by 31 points; now her lead is down to 19 points.

1. Too bad she isn't the champ in the general election polls
compared to Obama and Edwards.

6. Yes she does, and I hope she continues to do so.
But there is no denying that, as of right now, Edwards and Obama are stronger general election candidates according to the polls.

12. Here you go:

There are plenty of Hillary supporters who are in denial of her comparitively weak gen elec numbers, fav/unfav numbers, would you definitely vote for/ against numbers etc.

I am not in denial that she can raise a lot of money, has big name recognition, has many supporters, and leads most primary polls.

13. "plenty of Hillary supporters" = 4 votes in a DU poll. OK. I'll agree with that.

14. I said "some" DUers deny her GE weakness.
You wanted to know when and where. I showed you when and where, correct?

As for my statement that "plenty" of Hillary supporters are in denial, that is my assessment. I also think she would be a mediocre president. You think she would be great. No real way to prove that one way or another.

Do you think there are only 4 DUers who think Hillary has the best g.e. poll numbers, or do you think there are a lot more?

5. Just goes to show ....
We keep hearing the pundits say that the dem party needs to move more to the right to reach "centrists" voters, but the polling seems to indicate that while the pubs are on another planet, even the dem party is too far RIGHT to be considered mainstream.

4. That kind of lead, before any primary, is in no way insurmountable. Hell, if it were,

Romney and half the Repub field would drop out now.

One or two losses in Iowa or New Hampshire could completely upset the Clinton applecart.

9. Here you go -
The Newsweek Poll was conducted by Princeton Survey Research Associates International.
You can read about their methods here.

http://www.psrai.com/datacollection.shtml

Looks like they use many methods whereas some polling agencies do not.

In case you missed it, they also published this one....

Newsweek Poll: Bush Hits All-Time Low, 28%
George W. Bush has the lowest presidential approval rating in a generation, and the leading Dems beat every major '08 Republican. Coincidence?

NEW YORK, May 5 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- It's hard to say which is worse news for Republicans: that George W. Bush now has the worst approval rating of an American president in a generation, or that he seems to be dragging every '08 Republican presidential candidate down with him.
According to the new Newsweek Poll, the public's approval of Bush has sunk to 28 percent, an all-time low

At the same time, Rasmussen has reported a 12% higher rating for the pResident.

President Bush Job Approval
Saturday, May 05, 2007

Forty percent (40%) of American adults Approve of the way that George W. Bush is performing his duties as President.
Fifty-eight percent (58%) Disapprove of his performance.
These figures include 17% who Strongly Approve and 43% who Strongly Disapprove .
The President earns approval from 78% of Republicans but only 13% of Democrats.
Among those unaffiliated with the two major parties, 34% approve.

It's very interesting to read how all the polling agencies get their results. All are not equal in accuracy. Many have gone to automated calling and other methods to cut costs. The old "actually talk to a real person seems to be the best"....but that's just how I see it.
