Murdock, Limbaugh and Anti-Kerry Dems Recycling Drudge Slime: Meaning?? |
|
We need to start figuring out who we are supporting.
Repub are bound to do a lot more of this. If this tells us how we Dem are going to handle it we would be in serious trouble even if Mother Teresa was our candidate.

5. You want to support the Drude side swipe at Clark. This was manufactured |
|
for the consumption of certain folk. I am sure that nothing in the story or stories to follow actually means what it is made out to be.
There are $Trillions and the shape of our civilization at stake and many Dems continue to act like gullible --------.

if Kerry had given me any reason to support him up until now, I'd be enthusiastic to defend him. But when he tells us to quit crying in our tea cups and has failed after all these months to give the anti-war crowd any reason to support him (won't even throw us a bone), then it's hard to find a reason to rally around him now. That most certainly doesn't mean that I'm rooting for his demise, but it does mean that a call to come to his defense when he has ignored a large segment of the voting population is rather arrogant. Since Kerry has failed to make me a Kerry supporter before this, I'll remain nuetral, thank you.

I'm an independent actually and you set up a false dichotomy. My choices are not solely between Bush and Kerry.

Edited on Mon Feb-16-04 05:35 PM by The Magistrate
You are clearly a person of the left, from your many comments here in this forum. You know perfectly well that the Republican candidate is absolutely opposed to the left, and that the Democratic Party candidate is the only figure with any chance to turn the Republican out of office. In this situation, Sir, knowing these things, you cannot not know that to refrain from voting for the Democratic Party candidate will tend to increase the strength of the Republican candidate's vote. Lending material assistance to the worst elements of reaction in our polity is a damned odd way to vindicate left principles, Mr. Fishbine.

Last time I checked, the votes belonging to those of us who find him vaguely repellent count just like the ones from people who slavishly adore him.

8. It is so important to understand that this |
|
will be an amazingly dirty campaign. None of the potential candidates is invulnerable. It's just that they all have different areas of weakness.
Kerry, in part because of the time he was single, is going to be vulnerable to these kinds of personal attacks. Probably it's good this is coming out now, so it can, with any luck at all, become a non-issue during the general election. Even if it turns out to be true.
Even though I am absolutely not a Kerry supporter, I know perfectly well that this is not something that makes any difference at all to me in what I think of Kerry as candidate or president. But it, and no doubt detailed information about his years between wives, will be considered fair game by the Republicans.
There are probably two main motivations behind this. First of all is to get Bush's National Guard service off the front pages. It doesn't seem to be working, fortunately. The second is to weaken this front runner so as to either get him out of the race or to make him an ineffectual candidate in the general election.
It's very important to look beyond the specific attack on this particular candidate and recognize it for what it really is.
I really doubt that Karl Rove and his ilk truly care who is the candidate. They'll do their best to destroy that man, politically and personally, no matter who he is.
This will not be a fair, free, and honest election, and don't lose sight of that for one nanosecond.

23. It Has This To Do With It, Ma'am |
|
In this forum, many of those who lent credence to this slime were supporters of Gov. Dean, who seemingly hoped it might resuscitate his candidacy. When Gov. Dean works his way around to endorsing Sen. Kerry, which will surely happen before the convention, perhaps those so vociferously attatched to his cause will behave with more circumspection when reactionary swill is in the air to assail to a Democratic Party candidate.

25. Sir, I saw a few from various folks.....not all Dean either. |
|
I saw a couple who were a little out of line with it, but most were quite concerned at the rush to get others out of the race, especially Dr. Dean, when the rumor hanging.
I think, sir, you can understand that supporters of any candidate would not want to get rid of all options when such a thing was pending.
Now that is all over and vetted, then we can proceed with the Kerry coronation. Sir.

9. We ARE in serious trouble |
|
The regurgitating of these slanderous stories is a symptom of unstable minds. Being that the Democratic Party is burdened with such instability, it leaves us open to many more such attacks.
The rehashing of gossip has been and will be the root cause of our downfall. Too many times our weakness and propensity to carry on in such a fashion has allowed us to be divided and conquered by the weavers of slander.
We've got to put an end to these suicidal meanderings.
