Poll question: Do you hope the Kerry sleaze attack by Drudge is proved true? |
|
Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 09:30 AM by jchild
When you vote, keep in mind that an unsubstantiated, sleazy rumor this serious in the wake of the Clinton affair will be a smear on our entire party, and your candidate will not escape the taint of Drudge's sleaze attack. While some of you are celebrating this unsubstantiated rumor, remember that this Drudge attack is hurting all of us.
Vote on the following statement: I hope the Kerry intern rumor is true.

2. Even though I'm for Dean |
|
I think digging up dirt (affairs etc) is hurting us all meaning American politics. And the hypocracy of only Democratic affairs being dug up and let out in public just makes me sick. The media acts as if Democratic men are the only ones who cheat.

|
this. I think they learned some lessons with Clinton and Condit. Why are so many on DU fixating on this smear and trying to put it out day and night?

3. I say it proves what I believe about Kerry |
|
so I am completely content if it knocks him out of this race.
I think Dean, Edwards or Kucinich can beat Bush and it makes them ALL look much better in comparison to Kerry.
The bashing of a DECENT candidate like Dean is what I think hurts the party and the country.
And if Dean were a cheater I would feel the same.

I've had all I can take of the Repukes parading around like they are the party of family values, when most of the Repuke congresscritters are having affairs as well (not to mention the whole lying the nation into war and other similar "character flaws").
I hope we all recognize this bullshit for what it is, typical Repuke scandal mongering to turn peoples' eyes from the calamity that is the Republican party.

7. Bet the farm that Karl Rove -- |
|
-- made sure this story got out. The Far Right fundamentalists salivate whenever liberal Democrats are caught with their zippers down.
I recommend we confront those who would judge Kerry on this story, demanding that their entire sexual history from age 12 be circulated in the world press.
That seems like a fair deal to me.

10. don't like either 'push poll' choice...my answer is that 1) want the truth |
|
out and b)want it out BEFORE the nominations, for two reasons:
the first is to get the public response before the nomination to see how damaging this may or may not be
and second
if true, let it run its course before the general elections in case Kerry gets the nomination.
I have ample other reasons to not want Kerry to win. And Clinton's stuff didn't phase me except that Repubs threw away a lot of taxpayer dollars and made us the laughingstock of Europe.

Unbelievable.

Though I suppose it would give a certain candidate a chance, at least in the primaries.

|
I will gladly vote for Kerry, girlfriends or not. As long as he didn't break the law, I don't care whether it is true or not, and Clinton's enduring popularity showed that most American's aren't that concerned about such nonsense either.
That kind of mudslinging only makes idiots like Drudge, and our STUPID, STUPID media look bad.

I think that Kerry's personal life is relevent for two reasons. One, he thinks mine is. Two, I saw the damage that Clinton helped bring about by his behavior in this regard.

24. I don't think it was Rove |
|
Because it would have made more sense to leak this right before the election. Unless, Rove is JUST too drunk on his own power. I smell a rat in our own party.
I believe it was someone connected with Clark or Gore.
Personally, I don't mind because I'm for Dean. I can scream all day about having an outsider take on Bush but that's another topic...

It becomes evident that Clark will withdraw and throw his support behind Kerry, and Kerry will consider him for VP. Goddam, that is a formidible team!
So, put the rumor out there so that Kerry/Clark are knocked for a loop, work on Edwards next, and then finally rove can have the candidate for whom he has longed all along: Dean.

23. It's kinda like in a trial |
|
where everyone isn't sure if the person is guilty and the opponents bring in another subject. "No Albert didn't do it, I saw Amy pull the trigger." Then the judge tells the jury to erase it from their views. THATS IMPOSSIBLE. Whether true or not it will always be in the minds of those who heard it.

30. A quarter of people hope it's true. That's no surprise. |
|
And the sad thing is that they think it would revive ailing campaigns of certain candidates. It wouldn't.
For the sake of argument, if Kerry dropped out (which he clearly won't)
Clark is not going to get back in the race.
Dean will not make a come back.
The only one who would benefit from Kerry dropping out is Edwards. He is the only one with a long shot chance at taking Kerry as it is, and it's a very long shot.
So the demise of Kerry wouldn't bring the outcome that most people who seek his demise wish for anyway.

33. I hope it is untrue and that the "mainstream" media ignores it. |
|
If the "mainstream" media picks up on it, it might as well be true because it won't go away no matter what.
The worst thing would be to have John Kerry spending ANY time on this. EVERY SECOND he has to talk about it he loses votes.
Assuming Kerry was ever "electable" in the first place, this has the potential, true or not, to drag him down.
Pray that the networks, newspapers, etc. ignore this.
