Speculation on GOP whitehouse visit yesterday.....
Did they MEAN to plan it when Papa Chaney was out of the country so that he couldn't stick his up W's back and pull the string?

Have they said what his response was other than "Dick's tellin' not to go on vacation" and "I don't want to hand this to another, especially democratic, president"?

What WILL it mean?

Was it a Barry Goldwater moment?

5. I think this meeting will have more impact than we suspect.
When we look back on it, I believe it will be noted as the real turning point when the Rupublicans finally stopped blindly supporting Bush. And we knew this moment was coming: many GOPers in Congress have to run for re-election in 2008, and Bush is dragging them down.

They have to distance themselves from Bush and the Iraq/Republican war and hope that the American public has a short memory when it comes to Bush's time in office.

I really feel like they are going to be out of business after the next election. The 23% are not going to be enough to sustain them.

And it will serve them right.

6. There's no GOP left, or it will soon be the case.

The American people are at their core pragmatists. Like in that Clint Eastwood movie, you either improvise, adapt, overcome...or you look good 'ole dogshit reality in the face and face facts. In Bush's case the only thing he can do to placate his 'base' is start using the Bible's passage of Luke 9 : 5 and begin an orderly withdrawal (like Murtha requested) or preside over a "decent interval" like Frank Snepp's book about Vietnam described. Bush wants to leave that to a Democratic president and try to avoid accountability. Not gonna happen.

The people KNOW that PeeWee's Iraq adventure is a disaster and they will know what to do in the election booth to someone with an "R" next to their name.

Unless we're attacked again on Bush's watch, the game is over. BTW, this should send chills down your spine,
