2. This is a very interesting group with excellent credentials to speak on this
Gary Hart was half of the Hart/Rudman team, which put out a very prescient report on terrorism in early 2001. John Kerry was one of the first Senators to speak of non-state terrorists as a real threat. His 2004 position that these non-state terrorists need to be fought mostly through law inforcement and intelligence is now accepted by almost everybody. Admiral Zinnin was great as one of the first generals to speak out on Iraq.

I heard Hart introduce Kerry when Kerry gave a very thoughtful speech that he labeled, "Real Security", which was a very thoughtful approach to how we could make ourselves more secure. (It was so good that I sent it to a Republican WWII vet - who thought it was the most serious best attempt to regain our place in the world that he had seen in decades. He was shocked when my husband and I told him that the Democrats wouldn't run on it in 2006.) I do think we will hear echoes of that speech in the positions of some 2008 candidates.

I think this will be a group of people we can trust whether our President is Republican or Democratic.
