2. Very nice article.
I finally got around to listening to that parody. I wasn't going to bother, but my husband asked about it. We listened together.

I haven't seen that sour, angry look on my husband's face in a very long time. He says that even the few Rush listeners where he works haven't brought this up. They know it is out of line.

This "parody" is very careful to credit the LA Times writer with the phrase "the magic Negro." Rush is too stupid to realize that Spike Lee was the person who came up with this phrase. Lee was naming and criticizing a film archetype. I did not know this until my daughter pointed it out to me some time ago. She shared with me a review of The Legend of Bagger Vance, and the review referred to this film device. (I guess it is a literary device, too, but I can't think of any examples).

Obama knows what he is doing. Ignoring Rush is the best way. He thrives on controversy and venom.

It is the same with Coulter. Every time she says something vicious, half of DU calls her names, while the other half tells them to ignore her. We waste our time with this. Both Coulter and Limbaugh act as distractions from the real issues.

3. She missed the point
as did most people on this board with whom I discussed this a while ago.

The song wasn't a slur against Obama. It was a shot at Sharpton.

Is Karen Russell being deliberately obtuse because it's too tasty to call Limbaugh a racist again? Or is she too stupid to understand it? She went to Harvard Law School, so this is a tough question.
