I hate to be crass about issues so important to our lives....
But I really think that most of the power problems these guys in the current Bush administration are related to a base drive; Sex...

I saw a while back a little snippet of Karl Rove as a college republican working for the Nixon Campaign....

You could just tell that the boy wasn't getting too much of all that free love flowing around on the campus of your choice...

I mean, he probably couldn't get laid at woman's prison carrying a fist full of pardons...

And look at Richard Pearle, Wolfowitz, they came of age during the free love time on campus as well and you can bet that they weren't gettin' any either...

And Chaney and Rumsfeld, how often do you think they coaxed a comely coed back to a dorm room...

And Bush, well he was too busy getting jaked up on cheap liquor and really popular...

How best to get revenge on all those people who shunned them when all they needed was a little love...

Construct the biggest goof off into a president and foist him on the people who never once gave them a second look back in college...

I know it's simplistic, but look at the women they have attracted to their inner circle.. Harriet Miers, Condi Rice, Karen Hughes...

Only Karen is married and Condi and Harriet obviously adore Bush who they probably see as the Big Man on Campus who never once looked their way with Condi even slipping and refering to the president as her husband...

I know it's simplistic to say that sex, or lack there of, is a major part of the problem with major figures and architects of the Bush Agenda, but Freud sure put a lot of stock in sexual politics...

I'm just sayin'...

1. I hate that this kind of sexism shows up on DU.
But it never surprises me.

3. Oh give me a break....
You tell me people aren't motivated at least in part because of sex...

If you believe they aren't, well I got some swamp land in Florida just right for you...

6. Perhaps sex...
But more likely the personal approbation that comes from it(There is a social "belonging" component to it), affection and warmth and the discovery that there are other people then you in this world.

Pleasing a lover can be more educational than...well...just pleasing a lover, if you grok my meaning.

Also, I would suggest that people who miss all or most of the above become very broken toys. Just like the above listed antagonists.

9. This isn't sexism...
as in un-equal pay or calling young women "hoes".

It's not sexism at all.

There's a give & take between lovers.

These criminal thugs know only of "taking"... aquiring power, war profiterring etc.

They missed one of life's greatest gift. The gift of giving, sharing and loving.

However, I suspect their minds were twisted long before that.

18. I don't think this is sexism...just basic psychology
Repression of one's sexual urges (which are very natural yet strong urges in an adult human), will eventually manifest itself in, for lack of a better term, "abnormal" ways. Clearly the destructive, narcissistic and sociopathic tendencies of Bush et al are just some of such manifestations in this "abnormal" presidency.

Of course this whole argument rests on the assumption that this crew does strongly repress their sexual desires and urges, but I think that is a fairly safe assumption to make, no?

I never thought of that before - but it strikes me, head-on, as The Truth.

7. It is a part of the puzzle,......
--- Neocons being sociopaths, generally, it is only logical to associate that sociopathy with adverse experiences in their early sex lives,.... I wouldn't doubt it for a minute. But I also think that a lot of adolescent neocons-to-be sat through a bunch of grade-B World War Two movies, fretting all the time that the Germans had the coolest looking helmets.

none of them were Republicans.

So yes, you're right, it is simplistic.

13. I think it's more a simple lack of value system.
Some people would never steal your lunch, and some would if you brought a good one. This administration is in the later category.

17. It seems reasonable to me...
Oftentimes the most complex situations have very simple beginnings...

And sex is a great motivator...
