I heard this on a local radio station, WRIR in Richmond, and thought you all might find it as fascinating as I did. It is a weekly conversation between an interviewer and Clay Jenkinson, a well-respected Humanities scholar, who portrays Thomas Jefferson. I am listening to “Religion and Death” right now. It is truly compelling. He comments on the use of sacred texts in swearing-in ceremonies which he describes as “silly” and states that it does “violate the separation of church and state”.
