Was Clark misquoted?
I've been told that this whole Kerry intern flap got started simply because Clark was misquoted. The statement, "If the Kerry campaign implodes, it will be over an internal matter." became, "If the Kerry campaign implodes, it will be over an intern matter." Any truth to this?

1. Could be....
Good angle.

Not like Rat Sludge would print a retraction, though.

2. The whole thing is classic Drudge Sludge.
There is no proof, no documentation of anything he wrote.

3. Seems likely
Not to mention "recent alleged infidelity" is more likely "recently alleged," meaning the allegations are what is recent. You can make one hell of a prison out of language.

4. Kos at dailykos.com says he confirmed
Scroll down to "Kerry and the Intern" at the bottom

http://www.dailykos.com/

Of course, the Clark comment makes no sense in light of his endorsement.

5. Whether he said it or not
that is not why the story broke. The story broke because Clark was out. It was a no-win for Clark.

8. Clark should clarify/deny/backoff on this...
When he endorses Kerrey, or there will be no place for him in the new administration.

He did some damage to Bush during his campaign, but he kinda has a big mouth...sort of a loose cannon. He is almost as bad a fearmonger over terrorism as Bushco. Shoots himself in the foot too much with his own mouth. Carried one state that we can't carry. You served your purpose Wes, now go away!!!!!!

9. Arne we not curious about the source of the "confirmation?"
Who leaked calrk's supposed off-the-record-comments? Was it Don Lambreau or someone else from the Washington Times? Bob Novack? The Wall St. Journal? Some other GOP operative media whore?

Isn't the reporter's identity critical to the quotes veracity, or are we so anxious to hit the front runner that wer're not only willing to respect drudge but possibly multiple democrat hating media operatives?
