Another subpoena ignored...

Gonzales misses deadline to submit Rove emails.

Earlier this month, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-VT) subpoenaed Alberto Gonzales to turn over all e-mails to or from Karl Rove in connection U.S. attorney scandal. The committee gave the attorney general until 2 PM today to comply. That deadline has passed.

9. Ordinarily, congressional subpoenas are enforced by DOJ
The failure to respond may be Leahy's way of laying the groundwork for appointment of a special prosecutor, since the Department of Justice can hardly be expected to act against itself.

We'll see, though. The mechanisms for reining in the Executive branch have had sand systematically tossed into the gears for the last six years, and the Supreme Court may not be inclined to hear any arguments that the Executive is flouting the rule of law and upsetting the checks and balances of the constitution.

10. and to think that Leahy
and others like him are putting themselves at risk, open to threats and worse, in their attempts to rein in for the first time in six long years a corrupt Administration just to be snipped at by a bunch of whiny DU babies who aren't getting what they want when they want it. (stomp! sniffle!)

Never ceases to remind me why I'm not in politics. Most of the people you work hard for not only don't appreciate you but find it nearly impossible to be happy with anything you do. And they're fickle! Happy one day, wanting your head on a spike the next. Sheesh!
