8. In a NANOSECOND!
Gore is my NUMBER ONE choice - if only for the relish of the "revenge" factor alone...

But that is way down on my list of why I like Gore...

Fact is, I like ALL the crop to some extent for differing reasons so far - that's why I'm "noncommital"...

Worked for Henry Cabot Lodge. The other candidates don't inspire me.

21. He could have been, but he refused to run after winning several primaries.
By the way - I already decided who was getting my vote in 2004 - Howard Dean.

When the Arizona primary came around, the nomination was a done deal - Kerry had won.

So did I "waste" my vote, since neither Dean nor anyone else but Kerry had a chance of winning?

I don't think so.

23. It wasn't a done deal In Az.esp in 2004.That is why Dean Kerry and Clark
were all here campaigning on the eve of the election. You didn't waste a vote but you would have if you had written in a candidate. My DH voted for Clark and I believe CXlarke got enough votes that there were Clark Delegates. You have to get 10% of the vote to qualify for delegates.

26. It was a done deal as soon as Kerry won Iowa.
Dean and Gephardt were expected to win Iowa, and when Kerry pulled off that upset, his fate as the nominee was sealed.

"You didn't waste a vote but you would have if you had written in a candidate."

That's in the eye of the beholder. Dean only got 3 Arizona delegates compared to Clark's 22. I knew Dean was a goner after the "scream" nonsense, but I voted for him anyway.

The New Hampshire voters who gave Henry Cabot Lodge a victory (and delegates) probably didn't feel that they were "wasting" their votes. Write-in campaigns have worked before.

24. LOVE Al but his high negative rating and the continuing bile of the MSM
against him would concern me greatly in the general election. Electorally it is hard to overcome a press that is still nearly universal in its inexplicable need to continually demean and diminish this great man.

28. Yes. But then, only 113 voted out of 100,000 DUers
Here is what prompted me to post this, after reading this in the WSJ (don't roll your eyes, it is more about the Republicans)

The Shadow Candidates
By JOHN FUND
May 3, 2007; Page A16

(snip)

Playing hard-to-get also creates allure and curiosity. Today noncandidates appeal to both parties. Depending on the poll, between one-third and three-fifths of Republicans are dissatisfied with their current crop of candidates. Last month, a straw poll at the Oklahoma Republican Party's convention saw noncandidates Fred Thompson and Newt Gingrich top the field with a majority of the votes between them. Democrats are more happy with their field, but persistent doubts about Hillary Clinton's electability or Barack Obama's seasoning fuels speculation that Al Gore or some other savior will enter the race.

Mr. Gingrich is touring the country touting his ideas without the scrutiny and legal constraints that an official candidate's fund-raising team would get. His aim is to offer "solutions so compelling that if voters say I have to be the president, it will happen." He will make up his mind in September, but in the meantime his audiences are larger, his influence greater and his exposure on TV even more ubiquitous.

The same is true for Mr. Gore. Only a noncandidate could get the praise and royal treatment he enjoyed testifying before Congress in March. This summer, he is both losing weight and keeping his name in the headlines by promoting his new book and environmentally themed rock concerts. Even if he doesn't win the Nobel Peace Prize this fall, he could parachute into the presidential race. He has trained thousands of people to present his global-warming film in every state, a cast of supporters who could easily be converted into campaign volunteers. A Quinnipiac Poll of three battleground states shows that Mr. Gore polls better against leading Republicans than either Mrs. Clinton or Mr. Obama.

I'd give his pitch a fair listen, and compare it to Edwards, whose supporter I currently am, and decide whether I still want Edwards.

I honestly haven't given it much thought, because I don't think he will run.

I think that all we would get from him is Global Warming this and Global Warming that. What about the real issues like health care, war in Iraq.

Gore will have to separate himself from the others for me to vote yes.

43. Any other year in history,
I would be an Edwards supporter, but this time I think the environment takes priority over the poor. Both are in desperate need of an advocate in the most powerful person on earth.

I just hope that Gore, while focused on global warming, manages to reinstitute some of the "trickle-up" policies that once made America a less desperate place.
